Dr. Glenn Richard Silbert, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Silbert's for over 10 years. On one visit he casually mentioned I had something called drusen and should take lutein. He did not mention that it is a sign of macular degeneration which can lead to blindness. I continued to see him every 2 years. A friend told me she had macular degeneration. I asked how it was diagnosed and she said her eye doc noticed drusen and sent her to a Retina Specialist for testing. I was alarmed and asked Dr. Silbert about it and he seemed so casual about the whole thing and did not think it was anything to worry about. He had a wait and see attitude. Needless to say, I quit going to him and found a Retina Spec. They did testing and discovered I was already at Stage 3! I was told Dr. Silbert should have referred me to a specialist immediately. It can't be cured but the progression of the disease would have been slowed down. If you have any serious eye problems, please think twice before going to Dr. Silbert. I am sick and heartbroken to… think I might lose my vision because of his lapse of judgement.
