Dr. Gordon Humphreys Smith, MD

Dr. Smith needs to retire. He is impatient with young children so not sure why he chose pediatrics. He can be curt and dismissive. First appointment and he was 20 minutes late so now know why he runs so far behind in the afternoon. Time to find a new pedi ophthalmologist.

I have to disagree with all of the other people who have rated this Doctor. I too have a child that needs to be followed very closely for Strabismus. I found that my questions that I had ( I had questions prepared) were answered in a way that "I" understood. He didn't talk over my head and he didn't treat me like I was an idiot. He just told me in a way that I understood. I also wrote down the answers to my questions so that I could refer back to them! He tells you "all" the necessary information that is needed. Nothing more nothing less. Obviously he can sit and talk for hours/days about the condition, but it's not information that I need. He keeps us on track for what we need to do at this time. I would highly recommend this Doctor to anyone who cares about their child's eyes!

My twins have been seeing Dr. Smith for about 2 1/2 years due to Intermittent Exotropia (wandering eye). As a parent with absolutely no understanding of this condition, understandably I have questions for the doctor about what the course of action should be, what things mean, and why he has come to his conclusions. Anytime I have ever asked a question I have been met with rolled eyes and disdain as though I have just asked the stupidest question in the world. Couple that with the all of 5 mins that he spends with my child and myself and I have finally had enough. I don't care how good a doctor you allegedly are, that is not how you treat your patients or their parents!

For a doc who is supposed to specilize in kids, this guy is impatient, curt, clearly frustrated and should not be working with anyone whose self-esteem is still in development!

Not only his bedside manner was very, VERY bad, he only spent about 10 minutes with my son after we waited 50 minutes in the waiting room. A few weeks later, we received a bill of $400.00 for my son's 10-minute eye exam. That was the quickest and simplest eye exam, but yet was the most outrageous charge I've ever seen!!
