Dr. Grace Antonios Makhlouf, MD

Dr Makhlouf was rude and unprofessional. Before I could even get into a room she took my records from the attending nurse, told her that I was late and that she did not see patients that arrived late. I arrived twenty minutes early. She kept my records to the point where the nurse had to write my vitals down on a sticky note. When she walked back in she proceeded to ask if I was told at the front desk that she was not seeing new patients with lupus. The records sent by my physician said nothing about lupus. I was there for scleroderma. She went down a list of other autoimmune diseases that she was not treating and had she known sooner she would have called to tell me not to come. My records were sent two weeks prior to my appointment with the required information needed. Not once did she call the referring physician or myself with any questions nor requested more information. Missed half a day of work, two hour drive, and was sent home with a referral to see a different doctor.

Dr Grace takes the time to know her patients. She listens and asks many questions to figure out a diagnosis. Because of the time she spent with me, she was able to diagnose that I had a circulation problem in my foot and encouraged me to get to a cardiologist ASAP. The cardiologist operated on me the same week and saved my leg. I am grateful to her, and a wonderful staff that works with her. I'd recommend her to anybody.

Dr Makhlouf, has a big heart and explains things well.

Dr. Grace is one of the most qualified doctors I have been to in quite some time. She is extremely down to earth and personable and truly cares for my well being. She takes a lot of time at every visit and covers everything. This does however take more of her time and I would suggest calling ahead of your appointment time to make sure she is not running behind. I would recommend her for any type of issue as she is well versed in her field and how it can cause other health issue sin other areas.

The wait time is ridiculous. I recently went to see her and was there for three hours. I made an appointment with the Houston Medical Clinic and was in and out in 45 minutes. I will not return to see Dr. Grace Makhlouf. They made it seem like this was just a busy day . . . not knowinig that this is her standard.

The doctor has great bedside manners but whatâ??s the use when the diagnosis is completely wrong. The wait time in her office was always two to three hours. They book so many appointments and it seems so inconsiderate of the patients and their time. I am very surprised with their approach to medicine, they never look back and regret the pain they inflict on their patients that come to them seeking relief or medical advice.

I am very dissatisfied with this doctor. The wait time was very annoying. As a patient in chronic pain it is hard to wait for more than an hour. When it exceeds an hour which when you have an appointment with her it can go as long as four. I am appalled at such treatment of a patient. Time management she has no concept.

Dr. M is competent and does take time to explain the diagnosis and medications. She works with the GI doctor for the best meds to combine with my other health issues. However, I waited for more than a hour several times. Her staff needs to be more aware of the doctor's average length of a patient's visit and not overbook. I was also concerned that with each patient, the meds were much the same. Is that something I should be concerned about? I began to wonder and thus our relationship was dismissed.

I have been an SLE patient of Dr. Makhlouf's for over a decade. While I have been seen more quickly in other Drs offices over my lifetime, and while other Dr's staffs may have been more organized at times, I value medical CARE above those things. I would happily wait all day for Dr. Makhlouf. In all my life, I have had only one other Dr. I thought matched Dr. Makhlouf on this criteria. That's 2 out perhaps 200 - 250 doctors I have dealt with in my lifetime. Her knowledge of her field, the medications and treatments available -- these things are superb. Beyond that, she has an outstanding level of involvement and concern for her patients,from physical issues to emotional and financial issues. She has called me at home late at night if some lab result troubled her. She has taken calls from me in the middle the night. She has given me her her cell phone number during a crisis, and she has taken on the doctors at the county hospital when she thought their treatment and diagnosis… were in error. You get the time you need ---- and that's why I would wait all day. She is always patient, thorough and respectful, no matter what her day has been like. She literally loves her patients, in the best "brotherly love" sense. Trade this for a shorter wait with a doctor whose primary concern is moving patients in and out quickly and who seems to only half listening when you express concerns because (s)he is ready to move to the next exam room? I don't think so!
