Summary
I was born in Kansas City and moved to Tacoma in my early teens. I served six years in the Army as a physician and after completing my service, moved back to Tacoma, which I consider my home. I met my wife in college at Pacific Lutheran University and we have been happily married for nearly four decades. I decided to go into medicine because I enjoy solving complex and difficult problems. Medicine, especially sports medicine, is like working out a mystery and is intellectually satisfying. I teach classes on advanced cardiac life support at Harborview Medical Center and mentor medical students from the University of Washington. I volunteer my free time as the team physician for North Mason High School in Belfair, Washington. I am one of a small number of sports medicine physicians in Washington State who is board certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
