Dr. Gregory DiFelice, MD

I was very disappointed with my consultation experience with Dr. Difelice. I had flown across the country to see him, expecting professionalism and clear judgment, but that was far from what I received. Initially, he was adamant about his assessment of my case, but as the appointment progressed, he became wishy-washy, contradicting his earlier statements. This inconsistency left me feeling uncertain about his confidence as a surgeon and made it hard for me to trust his judgment. What made matters worse was the way he spoke to me. At one point, he compared my knee to a trash can, describing the ACL graft as “a pencil in the trash can,” which I found extremely disrespectful. He also used profanity multiple times during the consultation, frequently saying the f-word, which felt unprofessional and inappropriate in a medical setting. By the end of the appointment, I had no confidence in his abilities or his approach. The disrespectful comments, unprofessional language, and inconsistency… in his judgment left me feeling uncomfortable and dismissed. I would not recommend Dr. Difelice to anyone seeking professional, respectful, and confident medical care. My experience was a complete disappointment.

Went for a second opinion. Waited over 1 hour for him in the waiting room. When I finally got into the room, the pa came and saw me. Spent 5 minutes then said he will go and review my MRI and bring doctor difelice with him. We waited another 20 minutes. My husband opened the door to go ask someone and he sees the PA sitting with other coworkers eating donuts instead of reviewing my MRI and bringing the doctor. Finally doctor comes and is so arrogant and sarcastic. Claims he pioneered these surgeries and how great he is. Spent 3 minutes with us then tells us he’s running behind and has to go. Not evening waiting for us to finish asking all of our questions. Needless to say I did not go with him for my surgery.

Dr. DiFelice is absolutely incredible. Ten days before my wedding day, I completely tore my chest. He got me into surgery as quickly as possible and made it so that I could dance with my beautiful wife on our wedding day. He showed caring and tremendous expertise. My chest was in two pieces and looked destroyed after my injury. There were other surgeons who said that my injury could not be fixed and that I would have to deal with a divot and a lack of power in my chest. Not only did he masterfully resculpt my chest but he repaired it so that the functionality is back to the way it was prior to injury. I am a former division 1 football player and working out is my main hobby. I care about the way my chest looks and functions and Dr. DiFelice made it so that I feel as good as ever. One week after surgery, I was dancing with my wife on our wedding day. Week two after surgery, I was on my honey moon and enjoying it pain free. One month after surgery, I was doing pushups. Three… months after surgery, I was back in the gym full force. It is now about one year after surgery and I almost forget I had it. My chest looks and feels great. Thank you again, Dr. DiFelice!

I would highly recommend Dr. DiFelice. I’ve been in healthcare for many years and rarely do I get a chance to see such compassion combined with phenomenal surgical expertise. From the moment my husband walked into his office, he and I were treated with professional courtesy and kindness. Dr. DiFelice took the time to explain everything in detail so that we understand everything and that happened with every step along the way. His staff is friendly and extremely efficient. My husband is not a star athlete, a regular working man, and he was treated as if his life and recovery were just as important as everyone else’s. His recovery is progressing quickly and the PT that was recommended is stellar. I would give this doctor an A++.

I had forwarded his office CDs with MRI imaging of my son’s torn ACL ligament, as well as the radiology reports. I had done a lot of research on Dr. DiFelice, and was hoping he might be able to offer my son a less invasive repair of his ACL versus a complete reconstruction. A little background… my daughter is a collegiate volleyball player who had an ACL reconstruction 4 years ago. I am well aware (unfortunately) of the long term post-op complications related to ACL reconstruction. We had recently attempted stem cell therapy on my son’s knee, in hopes of him avoiding a reconstructive surgery. It was a COMPLETE waste time and $12,000. My son endured painful stem cell therapy, 8 weeks of Physical Therapy and STILL needs an ACL repair. The stem cell clinic in Broomfield, Co, in my opinion, completely misrepresented the potential success/outcome of the stem cell therapy. I… truly believe the clinicians at that clinic preyed upon our hope of avoiding surgery for our 17 year old son. Lesson learned. Dr. DeFelice was kind enough to explain to me why my son WOULD NOT be a good candidate for the ACL repair technique he utilizes, and recommended an ACL reconstruction, based on what he saw on the imaging. I was extremely grateful for his honesty. I shared with the doctor that I have worked in the OR as a surgical rep for over 20 years. Because of my clinical knowledge, he went on to explain in great detail why an ACL reconstruction was the only suitable option for my son. Everything he said made complete sense. I only wish I had found him earlier. He would have saved my son from receiving a failed stem cell therapy, and would have saved me 12k. Due to Dr. Di Felice’s expertise in ACL repair, I was willing to fly with my son from Arizona to NYC to achieve a clinically superior outcome. His reputation as an orthopedic surgeon is clearly outstanding. In our phone conversation, he proved that his character is outstanding as well. Thank you, again, Dr. DiFelice.

Dr. DeFelice was the best surgeon we've ever experienced as a family. My son had injured his ACL and meniscus during football and was originally operated on in Philadelphia. That surgeon in PA was ranked very highly but was terrible. He was not only rude, but when my son didn't heal properly, he completely denied there was a problem and said it was 'fine' if my son,only 19 years old, couldn't straighten his leg and was at least 5 degrees off. We spent thousands on PT because we were told there was nothing else to do. We even went to another surgeon who said the same thing. It was a godsend we found Dr. DeFelice. Dr. DeFelice said he needed scar tissue removed. He not only has an excellent bedside manner, his surgery was a success and now my son can straighten his leg. After a year and a half he is finally ok, all because of Dr. DeFelice.

I tore both the ACL and MCL making it impossible to walk. I was all set to do the standard treatment- wait 6 weeks for MCL to heal and then reconstruct the ACL. But a friend suggested I see DiFelice and it changed everything. DiFelice is doing something different- he is repairing the ACL and he also repaired my MCL (instead of just waiting for it to heal). I went into surgery a week after the accident, and was walking before my initially scheduled ACL surgery date. Post surgery, I didn't take any of the prescribed pain meds, just some OTC stuff. The pain and recovery time were dramatically shortened. I can't imagine being bedridden for 6 weeks waiting for the MCL to heal, all that extra muscle loss from being in bed, the more painful post-op, and longer PT/recovery time that would have come with a usual ACL reconstruction route. If there is a chance you qualify for ACL repair surgery- don't hesitate - go see Difelice for a consult!

I suffered a horrific fracture and dislocation of my patella as well as torn MPFL tendon playing football....I was immediately taken to hospital for special surgery and I was informed of the severity of my injury and the possibility of this being a lifetime debilitating injury. Doctor Defelice evaluated my injury and explained to me that the best course of action was to have surgery as soon as possible. Doctor Defelice performed the surgery 6 days later. He even went out of his way to accept my insurance even though I wasn’t in his network..It is now 4 months post surgery and I have just been cleared to return to full duty at my very physicall demanding job. I am pain free and am able to run, jump, and chase my 2 year old around. No one can believe how quickly I recovered from my injury. Doctor Defelice is truly the best in the business and for those of you who have serious injuries and want to make a FULL recovery I would highly recommend him.

Compassionate doc, Patient care award???? This guy is an angry, uncaring, arrogant person. Did he get all his relatives to review? I had a very unpleasant experience after surgery with him in 2015. He didn't fix the problem and I had to go to someone else to do what he didn't do. Trying to communicate with him about this was impossible. Definitely not a recommendation.
