Dr. Gregory Harold Johnson, MD

I met with Dr Johnson, and he was more than friendly and very engaging. He ordered up blood work, and a CT Scan. His staff were very quick to report the results of the tests. However, the CT Scan revealed a concern RE: kidney. The staff called me and told me the CT Scan was good in general, BUT, there was a "mass" discovered on the kidney. When I asked the particulars, the poor staff was cautiously informative, so I asked to have Dr Johnson, the once very engaging and affable clinician call me with an analysis based on his education, and the fact that he was a medical doctor. The staff did the best they could to get me more information; they were clearly empathetic to my concern. But Dr Johnson did not call me. To the staff's credit, they were working as a go between and trying to convey to me that Dr Johnson's expertise was not in urology. The caring staff got the CT Report off to several urological oncologists who I know within minutes of me giving their names, and within… one hour of receiving the Report, these doctors from UCLA and USC called me on my cell phone and went over the CT Report relative to the kidney. Dr Johnson is a wonderful guy, and I trust him as an internist, but when his staff calls a patient with news other than "everything is normal," Greg has simply got to get on the phone and give you two minutes of his time. I would recommend Dr Johnson, but simply be prepared that he is a very competent and highly skilled internists who leaves the unnerving business of notification to his staff to give you, perhaps, the "bad news." The staff are over the top engaging. Mixed bag of tricks, but very very competent doctor. He should not be judged for his "bed side manner." But perhaps he should call a patient if they ask him.

Dr. Johnson has been our gastroenterologist for several years and has performed many colonoscopies and endoscopies for us during that time. We have never doubted his diagnoses nor his treatment methods. Also, he is very kind and caring about his patients.

Had seen him a few times, and noticed he had a huge ego/God complex. I was willing to overlook it, since he seemed competent. I went to see him for a specific problem, for which he said he needed to see what was happening. He performed a colonoscopy, and never bothered to follow-up with me, or tell me what the problem was. The problem persisted, and I had to find another doctor. Got right to the bottom of it (no pun intended), and had the issue resolved. When I asked to have Johnson return my calls, I never heard from him.

Great folks in his office, unfortunately the doctor runs a "puppy mill" atmosphere with volume, doesn't even know his patients or who they are, has zero followup and runs his abs through the hospital which is not covered by general insurance.

Dr. Johnson should go take a class on how to talk to patients, when discussing tests he will order. He is abrupt, making it obvious he just wants you to get out of the office and do the tests. He does not discuss the results with the patient, but rather has the front office call you. Any questions you have go back to the doctor and another call made to the patient. He is abrupt and borderline arrogant. He may have an excellent reputation, but his mannerism is lacking caring. I also had my records faxed to another doctor who hopefully will spend time discussing my test results with me personally.

Poor bedside manner, rude, does not seem up to date on latest medical findings and diseases.
