I have been unlucky enough to need both shoulder and knee surgery in the past few years. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Portland for my care. He is both an amazingly talented surgeon and a doctor with truly exceptional “bedside manner”. He always makes you feel like he has all the time in the world for you, which is unusual for any doc but especially an orthopedic surgeon. I can not recommend him strongly enough. His entire team follows his lead and you can tell!

I have seen Dr. Portland several times for arthritic problems in my shoulders. He is always sympathetic, kind and gentle in his exams. I had calcium deposits in myedge of the right shoulder for which he prescribed treatment with ultrasound guided needle aspiration. The procedure was performed some time ago, and relief has been both immediate and lasting.

Dr. Portland scoped my knee for me. His staff was very friendly, he got me in very quickly, and his bedside manner was more than pleasant. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable with my procedure as well as my aftercare. I would recommend him to anyone!

Saw Dr. Portland for knee arthritis ran test and determined I needed a knee replacement He didn't not tell me he wouldn't do it He gave me a cortisone shot and when I went to follow up. His nurse did all the talking and he and his nurse gave me no direction on what to do next. total jerk

Dr. Portland is an exceptionally talented doctor with a gift for making his patients feel at ease. He has excellent bedside manner. I can not say enough great things about this doctor.

Dr. Portland has worked on my my knees and shoulders. I am an active 47 year old male. His council has been good and he understand my need for activity and weights that with practical medicine. Most importantly he has a good sense of humor and seems to be kind and compassionate. I can tell those that work under him like him and that means alot. RECCOMEND

I was diagnosed with frozen shoulder, but this doc took one look at me and saw a slightly overweight middleaged woman and decided that I must have diabetes or thyroid issues - without any tests. If it weren't for the urging of my physical therapist, I would not have gotten an MRI which revealed that I in fact had a rotator cuff injury.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Portland. Great communication. Excellent diagnoses. Sets expectations. Excellent pre & post surgery communication to put family at ease. A wonderful doctor.
