I honestly lost trust with Southern Dermatology after visiting Doctor Wilmoth. When he walked in the room the first appointment he really didn’t even acknowledge I was there at first. After he sat down, I told him what was wrong with my hair (recurring chronic bacterial folliculitis) and he brought up my hair was thinning and started telling me about alopecia and that my hair looked thin. He made most of the visit about alopecia and not the folliculitis, which made me feel criticized because my concern was the folliculitis. Anyways, he hardly asked me any questions, suggested I start Rogaine, when my hair had been falling out because of scratching due to the folliculitis not because of genetic hair loss (though I do have pattern hair loss around my temples but not too bad). He threw me on antibiotics which is supposed to be the last resort option for people. He took a swab of my scalp to culture what was going on, and an assistant called me back to tell me that it was not a bacterial… issue, even though the antibiotics were helping a LOT (meaning it is bacterial). I went back for a second visit and he told me I needed to be on antibiotics for at least six months which is unacceptable as it completely destroys your gut flora. I was having several side effects which I was going to speak up about, but when he came in the room I felt like I couldn’t trust him enough to bring them up. I left feeling defeated. I feel like there were other options that he didn’t care to go into, or was uninformed about. The folliculitis is still not solved and will come back after I stop antibiotics. But thank you for putting me on a drug that screws up my stomach and doesn’t solve the root issue, Dr Wilmoth…

Dr. Wilmouth removed a Basel cell carcinoma from the bottom of my nose 6 weeks ago. He also did reconstructive surgery and I am very pleased with the results. Not only is he extremely competent but the nursing and front office staff were wonderful. Alan H.
