So my tonsils have been huge and painful. They were pretty much touching, and definitely touching my uvula. They were between a 4 and a 5. Went to the ER like a week before my ENT appointment because I was having pain (like an 8 or 9 on the pain-scale), they gave me prednisone. This helped to reduce swelling and pain, which was good because I was feeling so much better. They told me to go to my ENT appointment later that week and that I would probably have to get them removed. Every medical personnel (A docotor, at least 8 different nurses, an NP, and a PA) including the hospital staff said I would have to get them removed. I know they are not specialized in ENT, however, that was an overwhelming consensus of get them out. Then I went to ENT. He told me my tonsils have always been big, they didn't just suddenly get bigger, there might be slight variation. Also told me that a month is a very acute amount of time to be in pain considering I've been alive for 20 years. He… hardly looked at me. Told me to take this disgusting rinse and said my problems will go away. I asked what to do if problems persisted. He told me if they persist for 2-3 months I can come back. So I did not feel good about that. Scheduled a second opinion with an ENT in Sayre. Well, three days ago before my second pinon I felt absolutely awful the entire day and ended up sleeping for most the day. The next day (two days before the next ENT appointment), I woke up and had a metallic taste in my mouth I assumed it was just dry in the room and my mucus would be blood tinged, as this has happened to me in the past and I get phlegm-y in the mornings. I get up to use the bathroom and I go to clean out my sinuses/throat. A blood clot comes out and bright red blood, then another clot and more blood. And then I just kept spitting up blood. So we go to the ER in corning. It was obvious to them that my left tonsil had bled and it had a blood clot on it still, probably from healing from the bleeding. Since the bleeding had stopped, and their only ENT available was Sussaman, they couldn't much for me. So they were like definitely get the second opinion, you'll probably have to get them out. Also, we're giving you a shot to reduce swelling, a nasal spray, and try to take sudafed to prevent further bleeding. But if you do start bleeding again come back and we'll cauterize it. Tl;dr Do not go to Sussamn. Did not feel good about my consultation, he did nothing for me and then a week later my tonsils were bleeding.

This doctor has poor bedside manner. I will never return to his office.

Excellent doctor

Dr. Sussman downplayed the well-known painful recovery period of my operation, and refused to acknowledge or treat subsequent complications that resulted. His bedside manner is atrocious -- in fact, the only thing he seemed to enjoy talking about was how great a surgeon he is. Stay away.

Maybe Dr. Sussman was having a bad day, but he was surprisingly rude (avoiding eye contact, speaking tersely or staring at the computer in complete silence, etc) and didn't seem very interested in listening to my questions or even my answers to his questions! He also didn't seem to take my concerns very seriously. I won't go back to him and can't honestly recommend him to anyone else.

Dr. Sussman seemed hurried in his responses to my questions and diagnosis of my condition and has inserted a tube in to my ear/drum which has made my symtoms worse. My hearing has decreased and the pressure the I feel in my middle ear has increased.

Dr. Sussman spent forty five minutes diagnosing and explaining treatment options for a deep sinus infection. His treatment is the the only intervention that has had an effect on this chronic condition.Iwas stunned in her personally called to check how my treatment was progressing. Only the second dr. to do so in my 61 years.
