Dr. Hamid Reza Abbasi, MD

It’s been one year since my surgery with this doctor. They kept telling me it will get better but it hasn’t. I got a second opinion at the Fairview clinic at the University of MN campus. Abassi’s work is well-known there for his failed surgeries. That’s all I need to say. People will be better off getting a second opinion.

Dr. Abassi has to be only in for the money. He and his group have no regard for the well-being of their patients. I implore you to get a second opinion. You will not regret it. I did after my failed surgery from Inspired Spine and I was given a completely different treatment option after reviewing my pre-surgery MRI.

I'm writing this review again for this doctor because it seems like any "not-so-good" reviews get somehow deleted. People need to know about this doctor and his group before more bad things happen to them. This doctor did my fusion surgery a few years ago and I became totally disabled. I could barely walk to the bathroom. Both he and his nurse practitioner brushed me off and would not see me again. Then, I knew this doctor was in the business only for making money. I finally went to the University of Minnesota for a second opinion where I was told that this Dr. Is well-known in that group as they had "repaired" or corrected many of his surgeries. The surgeon who I saw at the U told me Abassi's technique is not pre-approved and can lead to very bad consequences. I went from 3 vertebrae fused to 10 vertebrae fusion to repair whatever Abassi caused Although it was a long recovery, I finally got my health back and is no longer in pain. I have also gone back to work full-time. I… implore everyone to seek a second opinion after seeing this doctor. It will change your life. He is not only incompetent but is without any modicum of compassion.

Dr Abassi did back surgery on my L3L4L5. I am now out 6 months from surgery and I feel totally back to normal. By 6 weeks I was pretty much back to my everyday business. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Abbasi is the first doctor I have been to with my grandpa where I actually felt like his condition was taken into consideration.

Dr Abbasi is a miracle worker. He was able to repair my low back with an OLLIF Spinal Fusion and a Laminectomy of L4-L5 after I had suffered chronic low back pain and severe bilateral sciatica for more-than a decade. I visited 3 other surgeons to get different opinions. Dr. Abbasi was very forthright about what he saw on my images and what my options were. He wanted to make sure that I had exhausted all non-surgical options before he would take my case. He was very frank about the advanced stages of the spondylolisthesis and stenosis in my low back and the surgical risks and both the possible and ideal outcomes. His approach is to aim for the most non-invasive and conservative fix possible. I was convinced that he was the right surgeon due to his years of experience with very good outcomes and the fact that he had helped patients with more severe conditions than I. When I stood up from my hospital bed on the day following surgery, I was thrilled and could barely believe when I… realized that there were no more sciatic pain. months later, there is still zero pain. God bless you, Dr Abbasi. Also, his staff and the staff at his hospital is very professional and make the experience as easy as possible as I came from Colorado for the procedure. Very thorough and comprehensible!

I had a spine fusion (Ollif) in 2014 he did not tell me of other options he told me this is the best for me. My left leg has been numb since when I called several times to tell him of complications he always told me it would be better with CT scan he said everything looked good and I am healing properly. I went for a 2nd opinion they did not agree with him went for a 3rd opinion again they did not agree with him. I now have to have a redo surgery to fix his mess up. I have been on more pain since the surgery than I was before the surgery. Getting pain meds was a task they made me feel like they thought I was lying about my pain and just wanted meds. Hopefully after the redo I could feel my leg again it's been over a year

Dr Asabbi was straight forward and honest about risks and outcome of surgery. Although there were complications he handled them well and kept me informed through it all. He was able to communicate to me in terms I understood and he made sure I understood what he was saying to me and answered all my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Abassi if you are ever in need of a neurosurgeon
