Dr. Harjot Kaur Thakral, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Thakral for about four years. She truly cares about her patients. I trust her opinions and advice and appreciate the time she takes to listen to my concerns! She is very down to earth and just a wonderful doctor! I would recommend anyone to her.

I first met Dr Thakral at another practice where she treated my husband. After she left he was very disappointed with her replacement and I asked at my doctors office South Shore Medical who was accepting new patients and couldn't believe our luck to see she worked there. I was considering leaving SSM due to my unhappiness with my current Dr and his nurse practitioner. Once she has become my doctor I could not be happier. I know she is only allowed 15 minutes per visit but she never makes me feel rushed. She knows exactly who I am every time I visit and my medical problems. After spinal surgery I constantly told the neurosurgeon of issues I was having & after a year with no answers I told Dr. Thakral who sent me to a specialist, a MRI diagnosed me with such a rare spinal disease caused by the surgery that it is not taught in medical school. On my next visit to Dr Thakral, she knew all about it as it seems she had read up about it and knew what I was dealing with. I can not believe… there is a Doctor who is more compassionate about her patients and their health.

Dr. Thakral is, without question, the best doctor I have ever had. She allows her patients to verbalize their own conditions and self-assessments, and hears everything I say - she incorporates my thoughts into her remarks. She actually listens after asking a question, and she does not preach. I am a professional chemist and have worked in the Medical Device and nutraceutical product development for many years, and am not an under- or uninformed patient. My first visit with her was for an urgent visit on a weekend when she was the on-call physician, and I was impressed with her manner. I requested her for my next visit (a physical), and she got in touch ahead of time to ask if there was anything that particularly concerned me, since I was essentially a new patient. I have had tinnitis for a while, and mentioned it as concerning. When I went in for the physical, she impressed me greatly with what she knew about the affliction, then told me that she had spent a few hours the night… before reading up on it so she could be meaningful. I have never had a doctor who spent more than a few minutes with me, let alone a few hours the night before a visit. I was hooked, and transferred to her practice. She has been of immense help since then, as I am working on some of the usual problems of getting older and getting less exercise than I like. I have absolutely no complaints about Dr. Thakral, and recommend her in the strongest way.

She is a great doctor. Always very thorough, caring and compassionate. I never feel rushed or that all my questions were not answered.

Dr. Thakral is the best doctor I have ever had. She is Thorough and caring. She takes her time with you and listens. She is very smart but always makes you feel comfortable and is down to earth. The staff in her department ( Family Medicine) are all wonderful from the nurses to the secretaries. I've only had great experiences with her and her office.

I am confused about why any patients are writing poor reviews. This Doctor is amazing, trustworthy and honest. The complaints about the general medical center are not fair to be placed on this doctor. With that, I have never been disappointed by any staff at South Shore medical center.

She’s got limited time for you as a patient and not afraid to let you know it. I use to feel like my doctor was someone I could trust and she made me feel like I was a waste of a business transaction and time

Best doctor I have ever had.

Love the doctor, not impressed with staff. Staff has several nurses that don't seem to work well together to get things done in an appropriate time. Front office doesn't seem very friendly. I have worked in medical offices and know this will make or break an office. I will be changing doctors due to this staff and their inability to work accurately, which is sad because I really like the doctor.

Never have I been as impressed with a doctor as I was yesterday when I had an appointment with Dr. Thakral. She is friendly, confident, willing to answer questions in a way that is understandable to the lay person, and thorough. I am preparing to move overseas and one requirement is that I have a complete physical exam. Dr. Thakral was fine with going above and beyond the usual physical exam and had no issue with ordering the extra labs that are needed. Dr. Thakral is really good about setting the patient at ease, and is very easy to talk to. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a doc.
