I had the worst experience I’ve ever had with a primary care physician. During my visit, he barely listened to anything I said and spent most of the appointment typing on his computer instead of addressing my concerns. He advised me to abruptly stop taking a blood pressure medication I had been on for 14 years. Following that advice nearly cost me my life. Shortly afterward, I ended up in the emergency room with symptoms resembling a heart attack. The aftermath has been even worse — I spent the next two years dealing with severe health anxiety because of what happened. What’s most disappointing is that there was never any acknowledgment or apology for the harm caused. This experience has had a lasting impact on my health and well-being, and seeing this doctor was one of the worst medical decisions I’ve ever made. For anyone reading this: never stop taking blood pressure medication abruptly without proper medical guidance and tapering. I wish I had known that beforehand.
