Goes out of his way to be the most caring Doctor I ever had in my 66 YEARS

I was in the hospital with what was believed to be pulmonary problems. I had been transferred from one hospital to another because I wasn’t responding to therapy. I was on a ventilator for three weeks. No one could figure out why I wasn’t responding the way they thought that I should be responding. Dr. Katner realized that my problems were endocrine related instead of pulmonary related. After his diagnosis, things turned around for me. Great doctor!

fortunately for certain diseases one goes to ID Dr. But there is limited physical examinations....I base this on having seen 3 including this dr. It seems there is an expectation that one's primary care physician will keep up with general well being. And who does one turn to when problems occur perhaps from meds provided by IDP and it takes months before he can be scheduled to see you? Problem is the primary physician usually expects ID to be in charge of things. It can be scary because if the PCP is not knowledgeable of certain diseases or the medications used by IDP for his patient how could he then provide good care. And if the IDP is not familiar with all things affecting a patient and never does a complete physical how could there be good continuity of care? Talking about research with patients is cool BUT it's like being in a library or a lab...how can you benefit without real understanding of how it all applies personally?
