Dr. Harvey Alan Giller, DO

I think this might have been my first colonscopy with Dr Giller but am not sure. In any case I found him humorous and easy to talk to. The questions he asked gave him information he needed to reach his conclusions. I found him straightforward, I came for a procedure not a dance, so him getting down to business wasn't a problem. If I have to do this again in 5 years I hope he is still working in West Des Moines. He , Brenda and Becky were very nice to deal with. I am sorry I can remember the name of the nurse who did my IV, she deserves a star too.

Dr Giller is the one who diagnosed my UC when I was 21 and have had multiple colonoscopys done by him and his staff. Always professional and never did he make me feel like my care wasn’t a top priority to him. While I read reviews all the time, I haven’t had any of the upsetting experiences a few have had an know that while I respect a persons right to express their opinion, I have had over 3 decades of dealing with Dr Giller and recommend him over and over.

There were many things that did not set well with me regarding the upper GI and colonoscopy with Giller. My main complaint is that he was curt, condescending and provided little explanation/ education regarding exactly what he saw, options for treatment, and time for questions. It was obvious that I was wasting his time. When he did tell me the little he told me, I was not fully out of sedation and he was standing behind my recovery recliner. This may not be important to some, but it is VERY important to me.

He is rude and made me cry

I was referred to Dr. Giller by my primary physician because I was having problems choking on food. Dr. Giller performed a Gastroscopy, corrected the strictures, took some biopsies and prescribed some meds. I didn't have much interaction before I was sedated, but he fixed me up. I don't know how routine or complex the procedure was. And, I have little to no impression of him because his staff prepped me, and I fuzzy as he spoke to my wife as I was coming out of sedation. Whatever he did seems to have worked, and I have no complaints.
