Dr. Hashem M Mubarak, MD

Hasham Mubarak was our doctor and very good friend. My Husband, Colonel Bill Hopkins retired from the Air Force as a highly decorated fighter pilot and leader with several combat tours, from Tyndall Air Force Base. He chose to use his friend, hashem as his only doctor in lieu of the military retiree system. Hashem gave my Husband his annual physical, as he was use to a thorough annual physical as a fighter pilot with the Air Force each year. This physical consisted of a chest xray, treadmill test, bloodwork, etc. For 4 years in a row, hashem, who is only about 5' 6" tall would look up at Bill, who was 6' 2", every year and say the same thing, "Bill, I wish I was as healthy as you." We would all smile. My Husband got into Beach real estate after retiring from the Air Force, and sold Hashem the condo he still has, at long Beach Resort. All was well after Bill's 4th annual physical with Hashem, receiving, the, once again good news about how healthy Bill is. Note: My… Husband never smoked in his life. Three weeks after Bill's physical with Hashem, we were in Tampa, where I was stationed at the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM.) My husband, who was literally never sick, said he had severe heartburn. I took him into the Military Flight Surgeon at USSOCOM, who saw us right away. Bottom-line up front, the flight surgeon asked to do a chest xray. We both said he just had his in depth annual physical with our family doctor which included a chest xray, three weeks ago, and was told it was great. The flight surgeon said he wanted to do another one, which he did. He came back and said I need to do a CT Scan, which he did. Bottom-line, we were told Bill had STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER with about 6 months to live. OUR WORLD ENDED! Being told this by a stranger just 3 weeks after Bill's 4th consecutive annual physical with hashem, where all was great, was to say the least, devasting. Bill died 9 months later. I have test messages and voice mail from hashem asking for forgiveness over and over. He blamed it on his buddy radiologist who he said missed the lung cancer growing from stage one to stage four during the 4 years of annual physicals with chest xrays by hashem. How could two doctors miss lung cancer 4 years in a row on a patient who never smoked and cancer was visible to a layman's eyes, as I obtained the film and saw it. If hashem had done his job and reviewed the xrays from his buddy radiologist, and spotted the cancer in stage one, two, and possibly three, it would have been operable and my Husband would be with me today. Hashem made me a widow at 48 years old. I am 65 now and the hurt gets worse everyday. He was not only our doctor, but a good friend. If my Husband had chosen, after military retirement, to continue seeing military doctors, he would be alive today. So sad we chose to use hashem, whom we trusted with our lives. Hashem closed his family internal medicine shortly after this tragedy and joined a group of cardiologists where he no longer practices internal medicine nor gives patients complete physicals. I had a rotten experience with my first cardiologist. My husband had seen Dr. Mubarak about an aneurysm, so I called to make an appointment. I am so pleased with Dr. Mubarak and his staff. He answers questions clearly and precisely without exception. I love that.

His advice was incomplete and inadequate. I changed doctors.

Dr. Mubarak listens to his patients, and is a very good cardiologist. He has a great staff and all are very friendly.

Dr. Mubarak has been my cardiologist for the last 25 years. He is conservative and an excellent diagnostician. Appreciate him always caring for me and making the right decisions to keep my heart healthy. Love Dr. Mubarak.

Good guy

Dr. Mubarak took care of my husband while a recent hospital admission. He was on top of everything. My husband was released after a few days and we will continue to see Dr. Mubarak for all his heart care.
