Dr. Heather Marie Baker, MD

I would not recommend dr. Baker or this office in general. We have been patients of dr. Baker's for over 2 years and in the course of those years I have had two children. With my first child she fought us tooth and nail to do any and all testing, including non-invasive test when he presented with pain and blood in his urine. When we finally pushed her she referred us to Children's Mercy and told us " it might be cancer. Or it might be nothing. I don't know". We then had to wait over a month to get seen by Children's Mercy so she left us hanging, scared to death that our child had a terminal illness and left my son in pain for the months that it took for us to fight her to get her to do anything for him. Turns out he does have a kidney condition so she was negligent in his care. But we liked the office and the location so we stayed. 9 months ago I had another child and around 2 months he started presenting with episodes of pain and screaming inconsolable screaming. Dr. Baker again dug… her heels in and refused even the most non invasive testing like stool testing. She went as far as to have her nurse tell me that there was nothing wrong with my baby and it was probably just his temperament. Some babies just scream. I finally took my mother with me to an appt because she is a registered nurse and she too had to fight with dr. Baker to get some tests done. Dr. Baker finally relented and did a stool test and it came back positive for blood. She still offered no assistance in resolving the pain for my child or looking any further into it so we self referred to Children's Mercy. My baby has several conditions that were diagnosed by The Specialist at Children's Mercy that had indeed left him in extreme pain. So once again dr. Baker and her negligence kept my second child in pain for months when he did not need to be. My second child has ongoing health issues and needs a physical done in order to get the MRI that he needs for his spinal cord. Currently he is at risk for permanent nerve damage until we get the results from the MRI to see if he needs surgery. I called dr. Baker to get his physical scheduled so that we can schedule his MRI and we were informed by her nurse that dr. Baker had pretty much fired us. She did not give a reason. So again now I have a 9 month old who needs an MRI done and we have no doctor to conduct the physical exam that is necessary because dr. Baker discontinued are care without so much as a phone call or a letter. Obviously I am incredibly unhappy with all of this so before writing this review I filed a complaint with the Olathe Health System. The office manager called me and I explained everything that happened and I explained the urgency and getting the physical done for my youngest child because of the possibility of nerve damage. That phone call happened 2 weeks ago. She never called me back. It's no wonder dr. Baker operates the way she does when the office manager also could not care less about the patients and leaving them in pain or susceptible the permanent damage. When I did speak to the office manager she told me that dr. Baker had discontinued our care because we refused to vaccinate our children. Will let me tell you, their shot records State differently. As in they both have shot records because they get shots. I have no idea what I did to make dr. Baker so angry. I truly believe that she is retaliating because of our self referring to Children's Mercy. But it's incredibly unfortunate, it is medically negligent and ethically wrong that she is letting her pride get in the way of her practice and it is causing children to be left in pain because of her refusal to listen to parents. Her bedside manner is terrible and obviously the office that she works for is no better. I held off on writing a negative review because I was hopeful that the office manager would be of assistance but she also has dropped the ball and left us without any answers. I have gotten my child into a different dr and he will be getting the MRI soon that he needs. But to anyone looking for a new Dr, don't pick her

If I could give zero stars for how bad of a doctor she is, I would!!!!

Amazing. Just everything never had a problem and I take 3 kids.

We love Dr. Baker. She is wonderful with my daughter.

Dr. Baker is the only doctor my grandson wants to go to. He just loves her.
