Dr. Heather Eileen Brooks, MD

Dr. Brooks seems dismissive. She diagnosed me as having hirsutism (excessive hair) purely from seeing only my forearms, per her explanation. She was also no help with what I actually went to her for (which was not hair.) I would not trust her opinion or go back to her.

She doesn't listen to me as a patient. Kept telling me insurance wouldn't pay for medication (they would) and kept wanting to switch my medication. She doesn't listen. I could never reach anyone at her office and always had to leave messages. NEVER did I receive a call back. They simply do not care about you as a patient.

I went in for a biopsy. I am sure she did not know what she was doing. She ordered tests that had been done a few weeks earlier, the reason I was getting the biopsy. She stacked tests that did not need to be done at all. She ordered a bunch of test that were not authorized that in the end, I had to pay for, as my UPMC insurance refused to. The biopsy's she collected didn't have enough cells to actually test, but because the lab did the work. I had to pay for the useless tests and then have them redone, and pay for them again. In my book this is called FRAUD or THEFT. Buyer beware with this doctor. UPMC doctor +UPMC insurance = you have been robbed.

Dr. Brooks just joined the practice I normally visit. I had an early appointment and waited at the front desk to check in. I had never met her and she walks by and looks at me as if I need to explain myself as to why I was standing there. She was not friendly. She was pretty condescending to me. Before this happened, I thought she might be a good alternative to try. I had to check online to see if this unfriendly person was the new doctor and sure enough, her picture comes up as the same woman who I just met. I definitely will stick with Bryan Goree. A doctor who can’t be friendly or at least be polite outside of the examination room is a doctor I want to avoid. I am sharing this because good endocrinologists are hard to find. She might know her stuff, but don’t expect a friendly demeanor. I was very disappointed in how she interacted with me. The front staff was super nice, which I appreciated.

Find another doctor. Bad bedside manners and did not seem to care about getting to the root of our issues. Plus, we received a $700 bill for just 20 minutes of her time. Not worth it.

She isn't my normal endocrinologist, I saw her because she had an available appointment and I wanted to be seen sooner than I could get in with my regular doctor. Never again. The right lobe of my thyroid is visibly swollen. She was very dismissive of my concerns (I told her that the last time I had an issue like this the left lobe had to be removed because of possible cancer) and was downright cold when I became upset that this situation was beginning to resemble the previous situation. I wasn't expecting a hug, but a little empathy goes a long way. In my visit notes, she said that I claimed my thyroid is swollen, but she can't really judge so we'll do the ultrasound. Does she not realize that her patients can see these comments?

My experience with Dr. Brooks was awful, to say the least. As previous reviewers have said, she has a bad attitude and is extremely dismissive. She also lacked professionalism as she kept yawning and coughing during my appointment. My questions seemed to annoy her (she rolled her eyes more than once) and her response were one worded. The overall appointment was a waste of my time, and I did not feel comfortable with her treating my conditions. My first appointment with her was also my last appointment.

Dr. Brooks is efficient and keeps me well informed at all times. Ahe sends personal emails to let me know my test results and her input on other aspects of my care. She is understanding of my many chronic diseases and makes sure she gives the besr treatment possible. And her nurse Cheryl is wonderful!
