Dr. Heather Caroline Koelling, MD

I’ve been a patient with Dr. Koelling since I first moved to Columbus. She is fantastic. She listens, truly cares, and finds the best solutions to help me maintain my eye health.

This is the eye doctor you need to see. She is extremely thorough and does not miss ANYTHING. I have been with her for about 18 years, I think. No matter what happens, I'll never leave her. I credit her with saving my vision 3 times. Once, I had a severe scratch on my cornea. I ended up in the ER at Riverside Hospital and got a misdiagnosis--pink eye. They gave me medications that were useless. I called her office on Monday and she was off, but I went and saw another ophthalmologist who gave me the correct diagnosis and a prescription for a cornea scratch. I went back Tuesday to follow up with a different ophthalmologist (she was still off). I got a stronger prescription. I went back to follow up Wednesday with Dr. Koelling. She examined my eye and told me it was so severe, I needed a specialist. She personally called the specialist and told me to go there immediately. This is what I appreciate--someone who can tell me---I am unable to fix this, but I can get you to the person who can.… Without that specialist, I would have lost the vision in my eye, due to the severity and how extremely fast it was progressing. There was another instance she found a problem, personally called a specialist and had me in for same day service. She was concerned the problem with my optic nerve might be a brain tumor--it wasn't, but what she saw pointed to that--I got lucky. She does not mess around at all. She is very serious when she finds a problem. Later, I had a second scratched cornea, which was not as severe as the first, by any means. She was able to treat it. She called me at home on a Sunday to see how I was doing. She told me in advance she would call me, and if it had gotten worse, then she would meet me at her office on Sunday and open it just for me, so she could examine my eye and do something to treat it. You seriously need to go to her for eye treatment. There is no one better in central Ohio.

Dr. Koelling is a very special doctor that really listens and cares about her patients. She called me at home to follow up on my eye surgery. That is the first time in my life that a doctor called me after providing service. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Koelling at Mid Ohio Eye for any eye problems or for a thorough eye exam.

Dr Koelling has seen me for both regular eye exams and eye 'accidents'. She provides expert care in a professional manner. She is an excellent listener as she sorts out details of situations and works with me for effective solutions to problems.
