Dr. Helen Mae Carter, MD

Orders unnecessary testing just so she can be paid by the insurance company. Makes you wait 2 to 3 hours in an exam room, while she is either in her office socializing on the telephone and/or yelling at her staff. Huge turn around of staff - everytime you come in , there is always somebody new. No longevity.

I love Dr. Carter! She takes as much time as is necessary to make sure all your questions are answered. She's very meticulous about entering pertinent case information in your chart. I felt like I had a real dialog with her about my issues and treatments, rather than the typical doctor/patient relationship where they tell you what you need, and your input isn't considered valuable.

Dr Carter has a weird bedside manner. She's distant, quiet, unemotional and severely judgemental. She suggested I lose 60lbs when I barely weigh 180 and would offer no diet plans, tips, check-ins or any help to achieve such a ridiculous goal either. She's made rude remarks to my wife as well. Avoid her at all costs.

When I was reading the reviews and saw that she does not treat anyone over 200 pounds is such a lie! I went in weighing 236 and she sat and talked to me about weight loss and gave me a goal set for 200 pounds and helped me through in 3 months. She was kind and never put me down in any way but only wanted to help me get healthy. I am now working on a second goal. She never refuse to see me!

I'm impressed with Dr. Carter's care. Very thorough with exams and addressing patient problems. I'm highly satisfied with her professionalism.

Kind, caring staff. Spends an extensive amount of time covering all my medical concerns. Comprehensive care. Devoted to excellence in medicine.

She is very complete in her exams of patients. Staff is very polite and courteous. If there is a wait time for an appointment, staff are good at letting patients know.

Excellent concierge medicine practice. Handles all my medical problems at one visit which means I don't have to book several f/u appts. Outstanding, seasoned clinician.

Just for everyones informations....If your over 200lbs you will be refused treatment by this "so-called" doctor. She cites her reasoning as obese people being a "safety hazard" to her employees. I think this is a complete cop out and feel this Dr should be ashamed of herself for picking and choosing which patients she will and will not treat. Discrimination is wrong, especially when your in a profession where job is to help people...ALL PEOPLE.

So this doctor doesn't treat anyone who weighs more than 200 lbs? She should have her license revoked. Whatever happened to the pledge/oath? Or maybe she just wants her 15 minutes of fame. Either way... there are plenty of other doctors. This doctor just plays it safe. Anyone can treat healthy patients - no degree required.
