Dr. Helen Mussemann, MD

The absolute worst care I HAVE EVER RECEIVED.

I have been going to Dr. Mussmann for about 12 years. Helen and her husband were both in the room when I had my son and they are both great! I read the other reviews and I couldn't believe what I read in some of them. I feel that I have been treated the exact opposite. Dr. Mussmann has always been so nice to me even when I got behind with my check ups. The only person in the office that I'm not fond of is one of the secretaries.

Dr. Mussemann lacks sensitivity and has little tolerance for responses and questions from patients. I was blown away at how insensitive and unfeeling she was when giving me my diagnosis. I am looking for a new doctor, and will not be returning to her. She is knowledgeable and knows her stuff, but is very cold and direct in her approach.

I went to Dr. Mussemann for about 8 years. During my appointment last year, I asked her to change me to a new pill because the one I was on gave me horrible acne. She told me she could put me back on the brand I was on before that one. I told her I didn't want that one either because it took away my sex drive. She told me that these were my only 2 options and that I needed to decide which was more important to me, a clear face or my sex life. I told her they were both very important to me because I was planning my wedding at the time. She told me that there was a third option and then said very rudely "Have you heard of condoms?" After this comment I just gave in and let her write me a prescription for a pill I didn't want. After that, she looked at my chart and told me it had been 14 months since my last pap. She went on to tell me that being 2 months late for a pap meant I would probably have cancer by now. Her rudeness continued until I began to cry. Once the tears started she… simply said "Lay back" and did my exam. When she was done she walked out without saying a word. This is the last time I have ever or will ever speak to her. When it came time for my annual this year I went across the street to Midwest Women's Care. They were wonderful! I would tell any current patient of Mr. Mussemann's to switch before she belittles you to the point of tears. I will never EVER return to her.

Dr. Helen delivered my first child. She is very easy to talk to and has a pleasent bed side manner. She along with all the doctors at Grace Women's Healthcare provided me with excellent care throughout my pregnancy.
