Dr. Helen Ostro-Brown, MD

She is rude, judgmental, and wrong. She obviously hasn't gone to ANY medical conferences in 20 years. Contradicting previous doctors and arguing with them through me.

I was going to her for 15 years. But I was always healthy and had no complicated to diagnose or refer to specialists symptoms. But after last two months of going to her with the same issue and still in pain that is not explained by neurologist or rehabilitation center I went to I wanted to know what specialist to go to ( I actually went to neurologist on my own) .At the follow up appointments ( two in a row ) Dr.Ostro-Brown did not want to hear about my pains and just wanted to address my high blood pressure. I asked her to please look at my symptoms. I suggested that maybe it is arthritis? She flipped on me in such a rude way... I am not sure why this made her so upset. She said she is done and she actually rolled out of the room. Before she did she said “iIt is a free country and I can go to Arthritis Specialist if is want to ! “ She said” I am done. You come here with all those issues ....” She also said: “You can find other doctor , we do do not mutual understanding “ ... I was… shocked. The only this I did I asked if this can be arthritis and I wanted her to listen about my pains. She basically left without hearing about my symptoms. When she was rolling out of the room with her computer I said ( frozen, shocked and in disbelief) that I will not pay for this office visit and her response was “ yea, you will since I checked your blood pressure “ ... I left office crying. I never ever felt so humiliated and disrespected. I was checking out shaking and crying. Field disrespected but also not helped and left with my health issues not addressed. Next morning she called to apologize and said I do not have to pay but damage is done. I have nightmares after that visit. I am not even sure why is she is medical field. Knowledge is one thing but being a doctors requires listening skills, compassion, manners and above all respect. One star for front desk staff that is nice.

I wish I had read her reviews before making an appointment. Doctor Ostro-Brown does not have a good bedside manner. She does not know how to talk to people. Knocked my lifestyle choices because I work too much while going to school, would you like to pay my bills and feed me? Also didnt like that I had only refilled my adderall prescription 3 times in a couple years. I only want to take it during school, doctors should not push unnecessary medications. The office also definitely needs an update. Not very cozy or comfortable.

Dr. Ostro-Brown should work on her bedside manners! If you are a sensitive person, then I HIGHLY recommend not going to her. Just because you're a doctor, doesn't mean you walk on water and can be rude to patients. The front desk staff at this office are great - so professional and friendly! But as soon as you get passed the waiting area, beware.. this office is so out dated and just down right dirty. I wanted to shower after my visit. This office needs MAJOR updates and a deep, deep cleaning. I'm giving this rating a fair because of the front desk staff - they are the best part of this office.

Dr. Helen B Ostro-Brown made me feel like I was being judged for poor life choices when I came in concerned about a strange lump on my body. I'll never go back, she talked down to me in an extremely unprofessional way. Do not recommend.

Worst experience I've ever had with a doctor in my entire life! Dr Helen Astro Brown has ZERO bedside manner I don't know why she is practicing medicine. After waiting almost an hour after my appt time she came into the room very rude and unempathetic. Maybe she had a bad day? I don't know i will never ever ever EVER go back to this place

I have gone to Dr Helen for many years. You have to wait sometimes but by far, she seems to be the most interested in my health concerns. You aren't passed off to a nurse practitioner.

I am a senior citizen and felt very uncomfortable with her tone of voice and complaints. I don't think there is ever an excuse for a doctor to treat a patient in such manner.

Not very professional. Started off the encounter by telling me I was a "bad patient" because I hadn't had an appointment with her in over a year (I'm a perfectly healthy medical student in my twenties). Gave me a very hard time about signing simple forms verifying my immunization history. Overall unpleasant experience. I will be moving on from Dr. Ostro-Brown. If I acted like her during our patient examination tests at Wayne State SOM I would fail the examination.
