Dr Mike-Mayer and his staff were an answered prayer. I have never experienced such pain and with 2 herniated discs I was already experiencing severe muscle loss in my left arm. He accurately diagnosed the issue, worked with me to formulate a plan and performed day surgery on my neck placing two plates and 4 screws. I was only down 1 week after the surgery with limitations on lifting for 3 months. However, in my opinion, the surgery was a success and Dr Mike-Mayer was very caring and compassionate to my needs. I have recommended him and will continue to recommend him. His staff is exceptional also!

Had surgery Pain free

This doctor did a C5/6 - C6/7 Spinal Fusion on me in Decatur, IL. After the surgery, I kept telling him that my neck still hurt just as badly. He kept telling me that the fusion was doing well and that 6 months after surgery, whatever pain I had would be there for the rest of my life. He left Decatur soon after. I went to dr after dr, pain clinic, radiologists, neurologists and got nothing from them. they said everything was fine. 2 years ago, I had a lower back fusion and a rotator cuff surgery. After the surgery they took an xray of my lungs and lo and behold, what do you know, the plate from my cervical fusion was broken due to C6/7 not fusing correctly. I had a 2nd surgery on my neck by a wonderful neurosurgeon and am pain free! But there are still screws sheared off under the bone in my neck due to the bad surgery of Dr MikeMeyer. Stay away from him!

Not a fan at all.

Woild totally atay away from this man. He may be ok on knees and shoulders, but not the spine. Used to practice in Pa. but did some "questionable" things to at least 1 patient probably more.Was arrogant and led me to believe a right sided herniation cannot cause left sided pain. I found out later that it is normal for pain to switch sides or be on both sides. I was also told at an IME and by a surgeon who corrected his surgery that he actually operated on the wrong side of my spine. Later during my lumbar fusion by another surgeon, he repaired the laminectomy that was performed on the wrong side.Their is no way I would ever reccomend this person to do surgery on the spine.

Dr. Mike-Mayer is a great doctor. He is kind and caring and not once was I left in pain or unable to contact him or his staff. They have taken very good care of my before and after my surgery. Thank you Dr. Mike-Mayer!!!

I was very disatisfied with my experience with Dr. Mike-Mayer. He seemed totally uncaring and indifferent to my pain and to advising me of a plan of action for a solution. He said, "you have ample reason to be hurting." Well, gee whiz, I already knew that.
