Dr. Herbert Richard Allen, MD

Dr. Allen literally saved my life! I had a colonoscopy scheduled with him and he received a report from a recent visit to the ER and he called me and left a message with his cell number. First of all, what doctor gives you their personal cell? Anyway, I called him back and we chatted quite a bit. He told me that if I was still unwell by a certain date to call him and he would order a cdiff test. Unfortuantely I was unwell and had to call him and get the test done. Test results came back negative and I was overall feeling fine. The next day I took a major turn for the worse. My blood pressure had dropped dangerously low and I was weak and feeling bad. This was a Sunday...I texted him and he texted right back and told me to get to the ER ASAP. I did, I was admitted for 4 days. He honestly saved my life and I am so grateful for him. We have communicated on and off since then (10/2024) via text. I cannot say enought good things about him. He is truly an amazing Doctor. He… CARES and he LISTENS to you. Thank you Dr. Allen :)

On the first visit, he was very rude, very forceful in getting the answer exactly as he wanted. Kept slamming his phone down, kept slamming my notes down, and had to have a scribe in the office while we talked. Said he couldn't hear well. I heard he had been a GI dr. for a long time, but knowledge and experience are needed but being a kind and understanding doctor is just as important. Kept saying so much off the wall comments. Wouldn't recommend him at all.
