Dr. H. John Cooper, MD

Terrible, said to me that his job is not to offer ideas of what could be causing my extreme hip pain which is making it difficult to walk. That is not a doctor whose goal is solving problems not ignoring them.

?I had both hips replaced by Dr. Herbert J. Cooper. He is one of the kind!! I saw him three times and each time he made me feel special like nobody else is in the waiting room. I cannot remember when was the last time I felt like that… not being rushed and being listened to. Doesn’t matter if you have 3 or 30 questions he will answer them all. Dr. Cooper is calm, patient, humble, and confident (love that combination). He exudes passion about what he does and he is genuine when he speaks to you. I am very happy that I chose him to do the surgery I will give him 6 stars out of 5:))) Each time I had to see him the waiting time was less than 15 minutes (very rare these days and it doesn’t matter if you have an appointment ) If I had any non emergency medical questions I emailed them to the Dr. and I received answers within an hour! This is amazing because my experience with other doctors when I had non emergency medical question was usually 1-3 business days. If every doctor’s work ethic… was like Dr. Cooper then patients would feel sun on cloudy rainy days. Thank you! Sincerely, Ilona Guenard

I just recently had a bi lateral hip replacement performed by Dr. Cooper. It was a perfect experience. I am 55 and have been athletic my entire life. I had been living the past 2 years with brutal pain from both hips. I had been unable to do most things that I enjoy. The major one being playing sports and running with my 12 year old super athletic daughter. I, like anyone else that's told they need this or similar surgery was very nervous , but I had put it off long enough and had missed out on so many things I wanted to do. I went to work and researched the procedures and met with numerous top surgeons. After in depth research and interviews, the picture became clear that Dr. Cooper was the best choice. I met with him as well has had phone conversations with him regarding my surgery. He was always available to answer any questions I had and I never felt as though I was just another patient. His entire office staff is just as caring and reliable. He calmed my nerves on… the morning of surgery. There was never a doubt I was in the best surgical hands and being taken care of by a doctor that truly cared about me. I was shocked at how good I felt immediately after surgery. I was up walking that evening with a walker, used a cane within days. Walked into my 2 week follow up without any assistance and feeling great. Back in the gym at 3 weeks, at 5 weeks it's like it never happened. I never needed pain medication except for Tylenol. The best endorsement I can give Dr. Cooper is that coincidentally my 85yr old Dad, with a heart condition, also needed a hip replacement, 3 weeks after mine. There was never a question that Dr. Cooper was the only person I would trust to do his surgery. He has also had a simple and amazing recovery. Walking without a cane a little over two weeks after surgery. And he had previosly been relying on a cane for 2 years. Making the choice to finally get this surgery and having it done by Dr. Cooper has been a a great decision for me. It has given me back a pain free life to enjoy! Dr. Cooper is simply just the best at what he does. You can trust that you are in the best hands possible.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Cooper. The takeaway of my review is this: Dr. Cooper is a rarity in the world of doctors and specifically orthopedics -- not only is he an excellent physician/surgeon and the only person I would trust with my health and body, but he is also an incredible human being with a comforting and kind bedside manner. If you want more detail, please keep reading: I was unfortunately in a horrific accident where slipped and fell on black ice, and cracked the head off my femur and broke my left hip. I was alone and scared, and taken to the ER for emergency surgery. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have Dr. Cooper as my surgeon that day. Not only did he go out of his way to talk to me as I was being wheeled into the operating room to assure me he would take good care of me, but he also went above and beyond by calling my mom before and after the surgery to let her know that I was in good hands and that I was going to be okay, and to come meet me at… the hospital to be there when I woke up from the operation. He saved my life that day (literally), and then continued to check on me and treat me holistically when we saw that my case was further complicated by a rare bone disease that was not allowing me to heal. It has been quite the unanticipated journey over the past 5+ years since I met Dr. Cooper, and each step of the way, he has continued to exemplify excellence on every level and has demonstrated that he is someone who improves the lives of everyone he touches - whether it be his patients or the members of his wonderful team (his nurse Christina is also absolutely amazing)! Dr. Cooper compassionate, patient, responsive, thorough and thoughtful. And while he is obviously busy, he never makes you feel rushed or dismissed. He is a great listener who not only makes the process a dialogue, but also makes his patients feel heard and validated. He genuinely cares about and is invested in his patients' well being and has their best interest at heart. He is a true rare and previous gem in the world of orthopedics - he is an amazing doctor, an outstanding human being, and has a comforting bedside manner. He treats you like family and I hope he never retires (selfishly). I trust him implicitly and explicitly and wish I could give him 10 out of 5 stars if I could. Dr .Cooper is the best of the best and I hope whoever reads this is lucky enough to have him as their doctor as well - there is no one better!

Dr. Cooper provided excellent service and achieved excellent results with my hip replacement surgery.

I have had good results being virtually pain free following the injection in my knee by Dr. Cooper. I knew I was in capable professional hands, although I was not interested in surgery, Dr. Cooper offered an option. I am a retired RN who is curious to know what was the substance injected into my knee. I was pleased with the professional staff who rendered such attention and care. Thanks to all. Eleanor

3 weeks into recovery and feeling great!

Six years ago I was told that I would need a knee replacement. That began my journey of orthopedic searches. I didn't want to accept that I would need a replacement since I was younger than most, so I began to consult with other doctors and was not satisfied. They lacked a real concern for my pain and the ability to understand how it was limiting my life. That was until I met Dr. Cooper. I took my pained knee in Manhattan for a consult. The office was friendly and efficient. At our consult, he took my hands and told me he was going to take care of me and that was the reassurances I needed so I replied "book my surgery". The care at the hospital was outstanding (Columbia), 100% satisified. He reassured me at pre-op, and I am so happy I chose him as my knee replacement doctor. Its not an easy surgery, lots of pain, but he understood my desire to get back to life and my life in the gym, yep, the gym! I did my post-op in the Tarrytown office (wonderful too!) and I am on the road… of recovery and walking everywhere!

I drive 6.5 hours each way to see Dr Cooper. When doctors in my hometown of Buffalo NY couldn’t fix my replaced hip from dislocating and had no idea what to do next, I found Dr Cooper. He looked at my X-rays and within mins saw the problem, scheduled surgery and I have been doing great since! He’s a God send and worth the drive to see him! Highly recommend!
