Great doctor he attend me with 5 of my pregnancy it was the best experience any pregnant women would desire . I totally recommend Dr. Carsten he the best .

If I could give a review that has zero stars, I would. First off, I have been here 3 or 4 times. Each and every time has been a horrible experience. I'm currently trying to find out why I have pelvic pain. It's a constant problem for me, and I must know what is going on before it gets any worst or cause more long term problems. Moving forward, my first visit I disliked the receptionists they are coarse, and apparently do not care about the patients. They do not smile or make you feel welcomed. However, the RN with short brown hair (forget her name) was great on my first visit. It made up for the extremely rude front desk. I felt like I was in good hands... WRONG! I was there to go over my PAP results from my primary doctor and had to reschedule due to my results being inconclusive. I thought, no biggie we will redo the pap. I had to wait two weeks to get the PAP re-done! Now on my second visit, I repeated my PAP with the same nurse, but that was the most painful PAP EVER; she was so… rough, and I ended up spotting blood afterwards. Three weeks go by, and I go back to get my results, and they confused me with another girl so for 30 mins she was asking questions, and I answered (she didn't realize until the questions got weird and I stopped her). Time goes on, and they send me to ultrasound. Today were my results. It was the first time I finally met Dr. Carsten. Worst Doctor I have ever met! Comes in late, my appointment was at 8:30 am, and he didn't even show up until 9:00 am. He starts talking to me doesn't even shake my hand or introduces himself. The first words out of his mouth were "Drove the convertible today; these girls are supposed to fix my hair." He was so unprofessional, didn't answer my questions, and told me that I had cysts on my ovaries and when I asked what can I do about this he just said Birth Control. I explained that I can't be on Birth Control because it makes me sick. He said that I can split the pills in half, and it would be better. Maybe that would work but why can't he help me find a way that will balance out my natural hormones instead of B.C.? Then I asked him if I will be able to have kids, and I get the worst response ever, "It will be hard for you, and if you take the birth control and have sex with five guys you will get std's and not be able to have kids." In utter shock that those words even came out of his mouth was ridiculous. He writes the prescription, gives me the wrong copy. As he is walking out, I ask for a copy of my results gives me his paper. Finally, he noticed he gave me the wrong prescription and also writes down PCOS he tells me "Google it, and if you have some of the symptoms, then that's what you have" This guy said to Web MD my problems. Why is he a doctor if he cannot help people, and he is kind of a pervert. Please save yourselves and do not see this doctor. Save the insurance money and see a real doctor.

First off doctor carstens and Reina are absolutely amazing! They helped bring my beautiful boys into the world safe and sound and most of all healthy. They have made sure that I was healthy before,during and after even up to this date five years after my last preg. So yes they are pretty awesome! I really can't believe anyone could actually have anything bad to say. The office is beautiful and big and they even offer a second room if u have kids you want to bring. The office staff and nurses are really friendly they make sure your comfortable and make you laugh. This really is one of the best doctors Southern California has to offer as far as ob/gyn goes I trust the staff here with my life and above that my children's. Thank you doctor carstens,Reina,and all the staff here!

He's the Dr. Who's delvery and care for myself and my son showed me that there are some exceptional doctors still around.

I have been to this doctor 4 times and still have not seen the doctor other than someone pointing him out to someone else in the hallway. I hate the way health care has gone and this office is a prime example. Staff gossips about your files right in front office and in the hallway. I had a very personal issue an heard them gossip from one staff to the other with great disgust. I have never been "physically examined" and am going to check with my provider to see if they are claiming any exams , as I have yet to get undressed and feel they are just having me come to bill the insurance. The office décor is very distasteful and gives the impression that you have crossed the boarder into Mexico. It does not feel clean or sanitary and you get the impression that this is a place people go who have no money. I dread going and the staff is at times very rude and not at all courteous. Expect 1-1.5 hours wait in a very small waiting room that is usually very cold. I dread going here and… am in the process of looking to go elsewhere

It's absurd and upsetting to see some of the comments I read in this forum, that someone pointed out to me. Let me start by explaining that when a patient is identified as a high risk, it's the policy of all ob-gyns to refer such patient to a Perinatologist- that is an Ob that specializes in high risk patients only, so if you have a condition that needs to be evaluated, either Dr. Carstens or I will refer you there, because we want our patient to have the best care possible- we will continue providing prenatal care, the Perinatologist will monitor if there is an issue with the baby, but not deliver your baby or take care of your prenatal visits. I know only an angry handful take time to vent out, but I still don't get it- Some people complain to me that the office smells to flowery, and they don't like flowers! Our office its beautiful, we tried to create a comfortable living room atmosphere, but there is so much we can do, it's all up to how our guests treat our space. The office… it's not small, its big for Private office standards, this is not a group practice. We take pride in offering not one but two waiting rooms, so if you choose to bring your child, we can accommodate you, instead of turning you away, like most Private Practices do. I like to spend time with my patients and sometimes I run late, but you all know when it's your turn I will spend all the time you need, as Dr. Carstens does too. Forms needing to be filled, sent and followed-up require a fee, I personally checked around, and surprisingly we charge less than most, so thanks for pointing that out. Regarding the charge, yes we let you know that if do not call us to cancel or reschedule , we will charge you a fee, just like most doctors do, dentist do, even my hairdresser does- there are times I sit for an hour because my patients didn't come. You are made aware of this policy during your initial visit, so if you follow the protocol, you will avoid any issue. Dr. Carstens does the majority of his deliveries, but like every single ob-gyn, they share call, they take time off, they are human, which is the reason why Nurse practitioners' are employed, so if the doctor is gone, you won't loose your time and still be seen- yes you can go to other places and be delivered by whomever shift it is including a nurse midwife---not a doctor. Now lastly, not because I work for him, but because I take pride in my profession as your healthcare provider and patient advocate, I have never seen someone as caring, thorough and always watching for our patients, monitoring health issues and addressing them before they translate into problems. But again, it's frustrating to see how some people, do not take some matter as seriously as they should do, and I honestly say that if I was in a child rearing age, I would not only walk, but run as fast as I could to see Dr. Carstens. After reading the comments here it feels great to hear every single day the 99.999% of our very happy patients that have kept our walls filled with testimonials and pictures of most excellent results!

A friend recommended me to Dr. Carstens office and it was a HORRIBLE experience. The average wait time for an appt is 1.5 hours! One appointment I complained for waiting 2 hours to see the Nurse Practitioner and Dr. Carstens wife complained the NP about how she was taking too long with patients and how the wait time was unacceptable to patients, oh yeah, and I was in the room while all this was happening! I felt bad for the NP. The office was just very small, not professional or organized, and not very sanitary in my opinion. Dr. Carstens also told my husband (in front of me) that I was "high maintenance" because I told him I wanted to have an epidural when I went into labor. Just didn't feel he was professional nor did he really take the time to listen to my concerns AND he sent me to another "high risk" OBGYN for low platelets when the reason I went to him in the first place was because his website advertised that he was a "high risk" OBGYN. I don't think he is, I just think… he is networked with other OBGYN's that are experience high risk doctors. The raincross location is much nicer and more up to date, but unfortunately it doesn't come with higher quality OBGYN's.
