Dr. Hilary Robbins Thomas, MD

Wonderful doctor!! I am so happy she is the doctor I was scheduled with as a new patient! She is very kind and knowledgeable. I felt completely comfortable with her the minute she stepped into the room. She listened and told me my options. She did a biopsy on my thyroid and was very patient. It hardly hurt at all. I'm super glad I will be seeing her again next year because I am confident in her as a medical provider!

I considered canceling my new patient appointment with Dr. Thomas after reading these reviews because I'd just had several bad experiences with other doctors. I was in pretty bad shape though so I took my chances and kept my appointment. I couldn't have had a better experience with the care I've received from Dr. Thomas. She took time to understand my symptoms, helped me understand my diagnosis and complications, formed a treatment plan that I feel good about, has provided exceptional follow-up care, and is so kind, caring, and respectful in our interactions. I've been nearly brought to tears twice following interactions with her because of her kindness, thoroughness, and how thankful I am for her care. She has followed through on everything she has said she's going to do. I'm not sure how as I know I'm just one of so many other patients. She's the first doctor I've ever trusted and respected.

Very indifferent to my concerns and questions.

I am glad some people have been helped and have had a positive experience. That is not the case with me. (and I can't imagine her with a sense of humor). She is stiffly professional, in and out of the room leaving you wondering why you came. She is not a partner in my health. She types what I say without asking me any questions. It is uncomfortable and there is no telling what I ramble on about being put on the spot. She doesn't think outside the box to help you feel better. She barely orders blood work and doesn't take into account how I am feeling, just the lab numbers. It's a sad waste of appt and money given her impressive educational background.

I felt indifferent after my first visit and returned for a second with hopes it would be better. Very soon I realized I was wasting my time and would not return. I did not feel she was really listening or even cared as she was too busy typing away on her computer. She offered two prescriptions that could help some of my main symptoms, but quickly explained all the downsides and negative effects of them, making them seem like too much risk/hassle to take. Her biggest advice was to lose weight when the reason for my visits was thyroid and hormone disorders that make losing weight very difficult and as if I hadn’t tried to lose weight before.

DR. Thomas has a goodness that is reflected in her care of her patients

Dr Thomas is extremely knowledgeable. She spends time with me going over my chart. My medical needs. She has a good sense of humor and I have total confidence in her.

When I met Dr. Thomas as a second opinion referral. I was facing surgery to remove my Thyroid and was not sure about the quality of life I would have afterwards. However, Dr. Thomas was a God send and my first impression of her was that she had confidence and her knowledge and expertise. She did not recommend surgery as the other doctor had and in fact told me surgery should be a last resort and not the first option. That was over 6mos. and I have not had to have surgery. I am feeling much better and am being monitored by Dr Thomas and her staff. She is also still practicing with her office in San Franciso, CA and consults with a team of Drs. there. She has been very polite and does all the diagnostics including Ultrasounds and the biopsies on my throat in office, which saved me a lot of money. It have had a good experience so far with Dr. Hilary Thomas
