My journey started 20 years ago, i had my first Esotropia surgery back in South America, a few years later, i started having problems, at the moment 2010, i was living in Chicago, and i made the big mistake of going to this doctor that i wont mention by name, that sees patients in western avenue, his bed manners were awful but he had operated on hundreds of children so i ignore the red flags and went for it, after the surgery, my left eye wouldn't go all the way up and was considerably smaller, making it impossible for me to drive or have a normal conversation with a person, i lost all my confidence, when i told the doctor i was upset...he said, you can drive just close the left eye, and about the size of my left eye he said, i can put a stitch in your right eye and make it smaller so they both are the same size....i was beyond furious, my eye got worse and worse with the passing of the time....this bad doctor told me to never have another surgery ever again cause my eye would get even… smaller and the problem would never be corrected, so i lived with that sentence almost 10 years, quite miserable and unhappy, even went to see him years later, but he said everything was good and i was too sensitive. i had problems with light sensitivity to the point where i wore sunglasses everywhere even indoor cause i couldnt keep my left eye open in the sun or places with a lot of light. because he said i could never get it fixed i was terrified of seeing another doctor....i saw 3 on the 8-9th year....at the begining of covid, but they didnt sound confident and they were in it only for the money, one can tell.....i live in florida now, and one of my neighbors recomended DR HILDA CAPO, she has done innumerable surgeries on kids and adults....when i first met her....she comes across as very secure of herself, not the warmest but kind enough, she told me yes i can fix this, and she had 2 different approaches, too complicated for me to understand but she took the time twice , cause i saw her twice before my surgery, she even told me she could fix the size of the left eye to make it bigger by adjusting the muscles, which i thought would be impossible, she said i can fix your eyes, about the light sensitivity, that i can see you have, i don't know if i can fix that. ANYWAY, fast forward to the day of the surgery, she makes sure you feel comfortable, and she reassures you, you will be ok. fast forwarding to the moment when i woke up from anesthesia....my sight was perfect, no more duplication of images, and no sensitivity to light.....right after the anesthesia....my left eye was not the same size than the right but she said, dont worry, you just got out of surgery give it a few weeks. let your eyes heal, and just like she said, no light sensitivity, both eyes are the same exact size, i can drive, the light doesnt bother me at all....and now i wear sunglasses only if i want to, i can look up and talk to the waiter without feeling bad cause both my eyes work together and i can look up and talk to the waiter, i can go to burgerking and read the menu by looking up, i dont have to worry about sitting to the left of my spouse cause if someone sits on my right i wouldnt be able to talk to the person cause my eye cant turn....in other words, DR HILDA CAPO, over delivered, she knew this surgery would be a success but even she was impressed with herself, the results are just PERFECT, is not easy to find a good doctor, no doctor is going to recommend another one, when they can make the money with the surgery, theres not enough information out there, so if you are reading this review and are still unsure, bascom palmer has been ranked the best eye surgery hospital in the country. theres another doctor that is older than dr capo and you would think he has more experience but NO, without a doubt....pick her....dont be afraid, i guarantee you, she will change your mind....btw, she change her surgery plan the night before the surgery cause she thought it would get a better result, she did inform me and so she did it....and the rest is history, she is just amazing!
