Dr. Hillary S Maitland, MD

Terrible appointment may 2025 - dismissive and rude. Appointment was about 5 minutes long and she didn’t ask any history - no physical exam at all. The chart billed for an hour appointment and a full exam. Do better UVA.

Dr Maitland is a thorough, communicative, compassionate physician. She takes time to listen to concerns. She uses her knowledge to dig deeply into symptoms and treatments. I know I am seeing a great doctor.

Had a 9 Am appointed for blog and arrived on time. Then had a 0 am appt to see Dr. Maitland. Everything went so smooth, I was out of the clinic almost before my 10 appt. . She took the time to go over My history an$ listen to my concerns. Should not be happier.

Dismissive, arrogant, and rude. She was quick to inform me of how busy she was, a fact which was crystal clear given how long it took me to get an appointment, despite my primary care physician requesting an urgent appointment. I found her rushed, and overall disrespectful and non-communicative regarding my concerns, and she dismissed my pulmonary emboli as "bad luck, will never happen again". One open-heart surgery, 3 hospitalizations, and 9 months laters she declined to assist my pulmonologist with my care, canceling via email an appointment my pulmonologist had made for me. This requires me to travel out of state to seek care from a hematologist. She is the definition of "medical gaslighting".

Would like to know how this Rude person that can just look at someone and tell them that there is nothing wrong with them. This is after several yest that others Doctors had done said there was some very bad things going on. Apparently everyone is wrong but her even though she never ran the first test. Maybe she is physic who know but if you have history of blood clots and family history of strokes this idiot is not the person to see that is for sure. After driving over 4 hours to see this so called specialist the Appointment took less than 20 mins. Would not recommend her to see my pets much less another human being.
