Dr. Holly Rothermel, MD

One of the worst doctors we have ever seen. My daughter left her office in tears and cried on the way home because this doctor was rude and unable to help her. Dr. Rothermel was unattentive (left the room 3x's during our short visit to speak with someone in the hallway) Leaving us in mid conversation for over 15 minutes at a time. Would come back into room and was dismissive and rushed. She told my daughter her joint pain was from playing sports. My daughter doesn't play sports. She was condescending to us and the entire visit was a huge waste of time. My daughter has since been diagnosed with Sjogrens, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia and Ehlers Danlos. We finally found her help with a compassionate and kind Rheumatologist that has provided her with a top notch treatment plan. I would never take any of my kids to Dr. Rothermel.

Worst doctor ever. I dont recommend to any body.

We were hoping that out of all the doctors my child would see, a rheumatologist would be able to diagnose why my child wa having so much musculoskeletal pain, sob, etc. I suspected Ehlers Danlos but Dr. Rothermel did not find anything wrong with my child. Mentioned counseling like other doctors. Our saving grace was a geneticist! I couldn't believe the questions he asked which she never did like the obvious "does your joints dislocate?" "lets see if you have stretchy skin?" "Does your joints ache?" Never assessed my child for hypermobility which she scores a 7/9 on the beighton scale. So long story short, if you suspect Ehlers Danlos see a geneticist.

Dr. Rothermel completely missed a very obvious pneumonia. She took a very poor history, did not peel back the layers, listened to my daughter's lungs and said they were clear, was dismissive to my husband 'this is a viral cold'. Five hours later I return from my job seeing patients, as I am a medical provider as well, and my non-asthmatic daughter was in respiratory distress. We rushed her to the ER where the doctor said 'it's quite clear she has pneumonia- I'm not sure how the Dr who saw her five hours ago missed this.' If you are put on this doctor's schedule, ask for different clinician you're wasting your time. Hard to believe she works for MGH, 'man's greatest hospital'.

Our appointment with Dr. Rothermel was a waste of time. We went there expecting to have a bullet MRI, and see a physical therapist. Neither of which happened. After a few minutes with my daughter, the doctor made many dismissive remarks and really did not listen to my daughter's concerns. Her advice, therapy and yoga and a list of medications for us to research. She said if she did not feel better in four weeks, we should call and she would give us a script for one of said meds. She also said she did not need to see her again before prescribing the meds. We left feeling more upset than when we arrived. Not the way an appointment is supposed to go.

Our appointment with Dr. Rothermel was a waste of time. My son had many symptoms. She was dismissive and unempathetic. Her advice "push through" and seek therapy. My son was diagnosed with POTS. Pushing through was NOT an option and therapy not a treatment. When I later researched POTS-he was a classic case. I suggest Dr. Rothermel actually listen to her patients and not be so dismissive and judgemental
