Dr. Homer Leon Lassiter, MD

Dr. Lassiter has always makes sure that all my questions are addressed in a friendly, yet professional, manner. He has been my doctor ever since I moved to Dothan back in 2004, and my intention is to remain with him because I value our doctor/patient relationship. I highly recommend Dr. Lassiter!

I've been a long time patient of Dr. Lassiter's and my parents are long time patients. My husband was a patient and my kids have seen him too. i used to really like the care Dr. Lassiter provided. In fact, I've even recommended him to friends in the past. However, over the last several years, I've totally lost confidence in him as a doctor. Before my father passed away, we were trying to work to get some VA paperwork submitted. We had worked for a couple of weeks on getting a response from Dr. Lassiter. Finally got a call from his office on the afternoon we buried my father, who ended up passing away unexpectedly. More recently, we've been trying to secure a hospital bed for my 90-year-old mother who suffers from dementia and now requires full-time care. She's had many falls and several months ago, she actually fell getting up from her bed and broke her arm. Dr. Lassiter suggested we get home health to come do an evaluation to determine if she needed the bed. Home health… came, did the evaluation and in no uncertain terms determined she needed a hospital bed. Home health submitted the paperwork to Dr. Lassiter and when he filled out his portion of the paperwork, he wouldn't approve for her to get the bed. In another instance just last week, I called his office one morning because my mother had become very ill. It's flu season, so I wasn't sure if I needed to bring her in and risk her getting the flu, or if he could call some medication in for her. He had just done a physical on her several weeks prior. I didn't hear back from his office until 5:00 in the afternoon. By that time, I had already taken my Mom to the emergency room where she was treated for a severe case of bronchitis. In the last couple of days, we've tried to get an antibiotic called in for my mom because she has developed a urinary tract infection. Dr. Lassiter wouldn't do it because he said the antibiotic she was prescribed at the hospital for bronchitis should take care of that too. Obviously, it hadn't taken care of it or she wouldn't have the UTI. He told me a couple of years ago when my Mom was very sick that there was just nothing else he could do for her. And I guess he was right! Because he definitely hasn't done anything for her since that time! Just because you're 90, doesn't mean you don't deserve good medical care! In spite of all of this, he has had some wonderful staff members through the years. Although, I've noticed he's lost a bunch of good ones over the years. I can only guess that they got tired of making excuses for him when he wouldn't respond to his patients. I also noticed that he went from being on his own in a practice, then his practice was affiliated with Southeast Alabama Medical Center and now his practice is affiliated with Flowers Hospital. I have to wonder if there's a reason for all those changes as well. At any rate, now he will have two less patients to worry about. My Mom and I won't be back except to pick up our records to take to another doctor.

Went to er due to low HR and passing out. He did nothing to follow up. No blood work and future follow ups. Even though my hr keeps going below 30.
