Dr. Hope Dunham Ruhe, MD

She has been my doctor for @ 20 years. She is professional and highly recommended.

I absolutely love Dr Ruhe. She makes me feel so relaxed and optimistic every time I have to see her. She is very experienced and knows her stuff. I never have to wait long and she also returns calls for questions. She is the only gynecologist I've had where I experienced no discomfort. That's big for me! My only issue is her staff. I have had a not so pleasant experience with the male receptionist over the phone twice. The first time I let it slide. The second time, he was flat out rude and scolded me like a child about an appointment. A friend of mine who also visited this office had a bad encounter with him as well. He is insensitive and should not be in a position to assist women who may be in a stressful, challenging time in their life.

The most memorable part of this visit was the rudeness of the front desk staff. I disregarded his curtness when I made the appointment, but then when I called for directions because of all the construction, I was appalled at how he spoke to me. He interrupted my question and raised his voice as though I were a child being reprimanded. Dr. Ruhe is an excellent physician with a wonderful demeanor. It's unfortunate that I won't go back because of her receptionist.

I've been with Dr. Ruhe since 2007. She came highly recommended from my female coworkers.Nonjudgemental and always concerned for me as a human being. When I revealed I was a survivor of a sexual assault and my concerns regarding that, she never judged me. Other doctors have. She is willing to spend time answering ALL of my questions and truly seems to enjoy what she does.

If only ALL doctors had her spirit, no one wouldn't think twice about having to do to the doctor! Dr. Ruhe is simply pleasant and clearly cares for her patience. I knew she was something special after having seen her deliver my cousins first born baby. I started to see her and just after once visit, she remember me during my second. In fact, I miscarried once on Thanksgiving day, and had no problems reaching her. She even called me back later to follow up. The very next day -- she opened her office, just for me for an examination. Even embraced me to comfort my pain. She's wonderful that way...she's woman first; and the most heart felt dr I've ever met. I'd recommend her to all women --- visit her, and you'll see!

I went to Dr. Ruhe when my OB/GYN off handedly infomed me that I may have cancer in my uterous and she was "sorry". She was my second opinion.She explained that we could investigate options, do a little more digging, and see what the tests say. She even patiently talked me through my hysterical crying. That was 10 years and 2 kids ago. And even though she is outside of my plan, I still see her. Physicians like her are hard to find.

Dr. Ruhe is wonderful. I started going to her when I was 18, and would still be with her over a decade later if I hadn't moved out of the New Orleans area last year. (I even tried commuting to her, but now that I'm pregnant, that's a bit impractical. But I made sure to get her recommendation on a new doctor in my new town--she did a great job of that, too.) At my very first appointment back in my teens, she took her time to talk with me first and explain a lot and relieve any fears or questions I had. She was always honestly interested in your life and your concerns. She's a warm person and a highly skilled doctor. I cannot recommend her highly enough!! There are no ratings on this site for SUPER-ABOVE-AND-BEYOND-EXCELLENT, but if there were, that's what Dr. Ruhe would get.
