Dr. Hope Daneda Shipman, MD

Been seeing Dr Shipman for 17 years. She is one of the more caring doctors I have seen is last 20 years, easy to talk to, never have felt rushed, has always taken time to answer all questions.

I have been going to Dr. Shipman for 20 yrs. and she is the best dr. I've ever been to. She is beyond thorough & has diagnosed many of the illnesses I have. Originally, when I went to my OBGYN asking if I could be going thru surgical menopause, he said absolutely not. Since I knew I wasn't going crazy, I decided to try an endocrinologist. I had many other symptoms not related to menopause when I first saw Dr. Shipman, but she found not only was I going thru menopause, but I had a goiter because I had hypothyroidism (I had difficulty swallowing). The following year when I developed horrible pain in my hips & lower back that kept getting worse over a 3 mo. period, she tested me numerous for times for arthristis. When the blood work kept coming back negative for arthritis, I went to 4 or 5 other drs., who gave me pain meds but had no idea what was wrong with me. Eventually, I read an article in a medical newsletter about Fibromylgia so I asked her if she had heard about Fibro & she… said yes & that it might be exactly what I had. She referred me to a rheumotologist dr. friend who specialized in Fibro & sure enough, that's what I had. Over the years, she discovered I had a parathyroid tumor when my calcium level went crazy so she referred me to a specialist to have it removed. She also found I had fatty liver disease, pre-diabetes, osteopenia & hyperprolactin. She has always shown great concern when going over all my health problems, including those I am treated for by other drs. & she never rushes thru my appt. Her staff has changed many times over the past 20 years, but I have never found any of them to be rude. I'm not the easiest person to get along with & many times I rub people the wrong way, so I don't know why some of the reviews on here are so negative. I have gone to many drs. during my life and have found many to be rude, not interested in listening to what I'm saying & I never hesitated to find a new dr., but I have always found Dr. Shipman to be very compassionate, highly intelligent, up to date medically & she is a dr. who wants to be a dr. for the right reasons, not financial reasons. I definitely highly recommend Dr. Shipman.

1- it's difficult getting an appt2- waiting time is awful, awful, it is like a mill in there, they book 3-5 appts for the same time3- staff are uneducated, low, and very rude4- hope shipman did not read medical record from prior endocrinologist given my severe hashimoto and hypothyroidism, did not address it, only increased meds, never scanned my thryoid to see changes in the nodules I have, so she wouldn't have to bother to realize it grew during the time I was forced to see her since my prior endo was no longer in network, and now I am so hoarse, cannot swallow and in much pain.5- Hope Shipman would not make eye contact, would spend 5 min with me, would not listen to anything I said, I would have to repeat myself, did not regard the presence of nodules as an importace and dismissed everything I told her. She has got to be the most awful person I have met.6- I would wait 1hr to be seen and 5 min for the actual consult. Hope Shipman sucks7-I HAD to call the office for the follow up.… Neither the dr or the staff would call me to give me results. I HAD to do it. Her staff was RUDE and very ignorant.8-I will NEVER see her or give that office my money again. That's all they care about. It's worse than going to a county clinic. They are awful and unprofessional.

Cannot recommend! Don't waste your time! Has Her own agenda, and isn't interested in hearingPatients side! Goes by blood results only, and Wants to blame everything on food choices! Has much to learn with regards to patient communicationsDoesn't seem interested in patient. Just going Through the motions'

Dr. Shipman is wonderful. I've seen her for a few years now and she has turned my life around after helping me through severals problems I have had. Yes, the wait time is long, and the staff is not the best. The nurses and her PA Tiffanie are great though. Very helpful. Dr. Shipman is too the point, and some people may dislike that. For me, I don't want to beat around the bush and be treated like a child when it comes to my health. I just want her to tell me what I need to do, and I'll do it.

I have been seeing Dr Shipman for many years. You have to wait but that is the fault of staff over booking so no dead time from no shows will happen. She has made apologies to me for the long wait.I too was turned over to her PA when my diabetes was well controlled. I just ask to have my appointments to be with her and there was no problem with that.The staff for the most part are all great. One nurse is short and lacking in patient friendly skills, but she is efficient and to the point. Dr Shipman has always took her time and has been great in taking care of me. She sees that my care comes first and offers plenty of options. My calls are returned always.I would not consider anyone else.

It is a hassle getting medicines and refills.

Dr. Shipman has been very helpful to me. I have been seeing Dr. Shipman for over ten years now. I do feel she has helped me improve. Under her treatment, I feel healthier and look better. She has listened to me, and she has been caring and compassionate. I trust Dr. Shipman and I do recommend her.

On my first visit with Dr. Shipman she recommended bariatric sugery. After finding another physician I ended up at MD Anderson with thyroid tumors. I was put on thyroid medicine and lost 70lbs. Shame on Dr. Shipman for such a poor call.

Dr. Shipman is not willing to spend time with you if your case is out of the 'norm." lacks compassion and willingness to listen and discuss options. minimizes the patient.
