Dr Hortancia G. Puthumana

An experienced anesthesiologist with more than 40 years’ experience in her field, Hortancia G. Puthumana, M.D., works closely with the cancer care team at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago to ensure that patients receive treatment in a safe, effective and comfortable environment.Dr. Puthumana earned her medical degree at the Calicut Medical College in Kerala, India, where she also completed an internship. After moving to the United States, she completed an additional internship in anesthesiology, followed by a residency in the same field at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She completed her specialty training with another anesthesiology residency at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital. Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Puthumana held the role of staff anesthesiologist at several hospitals across Illinois.She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Society of Anesthesiologists and is fluent in both English and Malayalam.
