Dr. Houshang Garakani, MD

I found Dr. Garakani to be highly professional and nevertheless caring toward my sister, who is his patient. He was able to help her with her depression, which she has had for many years. He does not like to talk on the phone, but otherwise, is very caring and spent about 45 minutes with her each time he saw her. My family is thankful that he was able to take her as his patient.

would not recommend to anyone. dr garakani took no action to help keep me from being committed. when i was in my manic state, DR said there was nothing he could do differently & chose not to see me for an appt. a day later--another DR instantly assessed the situation and put me in the proper care. also was told, after the fact, that he prefers NOT to work with bipolar patients since they are hardest to treat. terrible terrible experience with this DR.

I saw Dr. Garakani in the late 70s. I foundhim to be excellent in all areas of his practice. I was suffering from a lifetime of intermittent depression. He helped me understand my problems. I moved to L.A. in 1980. I continued to be uncomfortable (I am an actor)in my acting. The source of most of my discomfort was the fear of having a panic attack. I began taking Prozac in 1992 and have had an excellent result.
