Dr. Ian Chan, MD

I've always found Dr. Chan to be friendly, open and on the occasions when I had to be hospitalized for causes other than heart problems, he always came by with his team for a visit. At Mather, he can't of course spend time with so many patients, so I see Dr. Chang. She too is always very attentive. In my case, there is little that can be done now. 92 is just too old for surgery so she simply keeps me going. When I visit, she always consults with Dr. Chan too and if necessary, he comes in too. What more can a doctor do?

He was dismissive and kind of rude. At 44 I went in for chest pains. He asked when did I get them I said when sitting in a hot tub. I could point to the spot over my left chest. His response was then maybe you shouldn't sit in the hot tub. Two weeks later I was having open heart surgery. Bypass for a 100% blocked LAD.
