Dr. Ibanga Michael Ekanem, MD

Dr. Ekanem has always been a very professional doctor, with wonderful bedside manners. Each time my children and I have visited Dr. Ekanem, he has been courteous, shaking my hand and making eye contact and has been conversational. He is thorough and has been spot on with a diagnosis each time my children have had ailments.

I took my daughter to him and he almost caused her to die. She had a upper respitory infection and a double ear infection. He said she didn't need antibiotics to get rid of any of it tho. So I was a new mommy and I was like okay. I always had antibiotics when I was younger for that stuff but I don't like giving my children them unless they need them. So I went along with him. I took my daughter home and she got worse I called his office repeatedly over the time of that week that went by and the nurses kept telling me he would call me back no one ever called. So I went to bath my child that night and realized that she had a boil on he right but cheek. And it was bad!!!! And I know it wasn't there the night before! So it had got that bad over night! It was so red and about the size of a golf ball! I called doctor Ekanem again and no phone call back nothing! So the next day she woke up running a fever of 105.6 this scared the heck out of me! And her boil had grown the size of a soft ball… over night! So instead of calling I rushed her in to see him. As I was on my way I called the office and said I was coming in. And then the nurse called back and said Ekanem wouldn't see my daughter with out a appointment. So I just hung up and took her in! So I take her in and sit down and start to realize that her fever is going down a little bit due to the meds I had given her. The nurse said it was still 103.3 tho. The nurse called us back and Dr. Ekanem came in and told me to stop over reacting I was a new mother and that he's been around kids his whole life and that he was the doctor! And so I asked him is it noreal for to have a boil like this!? He threw his clip board up against the wall and told me that we where a waste of his time I should have never came in with out and appointment. So I left there and took my daughter to Morgantown Ruby Memorial Hospital! We where there maybe 5 minutes and they admitted her and started an iv of antibiotics! Then the ER doctor came in and said that she tested positive for staff infection. I asked how she had got it and he told me it was because the infection got build up in her body and was trying to find away out threw the boil! He said another 2 days like that and my daughter would have never made it! They lanced her boil drained it and we had to pack it for 2 weeks after that because of Dr.Ekanem. and the lancing procedure they have to be asleep for so it was a surgery. So my daughter ended up having surgery at 1 years old and having to stay in the hospital on her first birthday because of all this. All because one doctor didn't want to prescribe antibiotics! When they were truly needed. My daughter had febrile seizures while she was in the hospital because of the staff infection. We went through a lot with this doctor I don't suggest anybody taking their kids to have I don't even suggest taking a dog to him! My daughter was so terrified when he threw his clip board and acted like a two year old throwing a baby fit in his office! The nurses even saw it cause the door was wide open they all just got quiet and put there headshould down. And the one nurse apologized for his actions. The nurses that work there are wonderful ev r ruined of them are kind hearted and live the children! They just need a new doctor! And after he did this to my daughter a lot more people started complaining about the stuff that he hashould done to there children! So we took our kids to a very wonderful doctor in Morgantown her name is dr. Ching aND she is wonderful with my children! PLEASE DON'T GO TO THIS DR. Everyone said I should have sued him but the way I think about it no amount of money could ever brought my daughter back I didn't want his money I wanted him to treat my child that's his job!

four local doctors seen my child.Dr. Ekanem was the only one to listened and was able to relize the problem. Very caring, understanding person. don't know what I would do without him in our child's life.
