Dr. Ikenna Erem Obasi, MD

First off I want to say this is my first time ever meeting with a psychiatrist at all. I never went through any protocol or anything so this was my first impression of any psychiatrist which was terrible. He rushed through the pre-evaluation and diagnosis questions so that he could bill my insurance after he asked all the questions he needed. He then asked for my reasoning I explained my long term battle with anxiety and how recently it had heightened and I was unable to focus at work. I also told him my inability to focus while driving due to my anxiety, I also told him I started a weight loss medication with my primary care and the side effects was increased anxiety. He immediately dismissed my symptoms and told me to just stop taking my weight loss medication mind disregarding the fact I’ve felt with anxiety my whole life & this is something I am under observation with my primary care doctor. I told him that wasn’t the plan with me and my primary care and he abruptly blurted “well… what do you want from me then what are you seeking” I felt unheard I felt rushed and The call lasted no longer than 10 minutes. I told him that I was going to just hang up the call because I felt like he was not helpful. After I told him I was going to dismiss the call he threw up his hands and said well OK completely un empathetic mind you, you are in a mental healthcare field with people who are already dealing with certain things in their lives we don’t need your arrogance and dismissal as well. This was my first impression of a psychiatrist has made me not even want to seek out any other one.

Worst experience I have ever had. I called asking for help and got nothing in return. This man should not be doing anything in the mental health field. I work in the medical field and I work with great doctors that I’m very proud of that. This man is a disgrace to the medical field. So sad someone so heartless should not be giving mental health advice to any patient under any circumstances.

My Telehealth visit with Ikeena Obasi on 7/24/25 was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I’ve had in medical care. From the start, Obasi was robotic—reading through a scripted intake with no effort to connect or engage. I brought up a ADHD stimulant medication I’ve been prescribed in the past and asked for the clinic’s rationale on its policy not to prescribe those medications. He refused to explain, repeating only that “he must follow policy.” When I shifted the conversation to my long-standing antidepressant—something I’ve been prescribed for years—he suggested an unusually low starting dose, typically used only for weaning on to the drug. When I asked for clinical reasoning, he again cited policy with no explanation. I stated that other psychiatrists had prescribed a dosage 6x higher and I needed a clinical rationale given my history with the drug why he recommended a non therapeutic dose. Then he abruptly said he would not prescribe it at all and returned… to repeating the policy on the stimulant medication I hadn’t been asking about. I stated he must document in my record his refusal to prescribe or provide a rationale for suggested starting dosage. He never acknowledged this or anything else I said after 5 minutes into the call. Despite repeated attempts to clarify the conversation, he talked over me nonstop, showing no signs of listening or engagement. It genuinely felt like he had muted me. The moment I said I would begin recording the call, he immediately ended it. This was a distressing, invalidating experience. I do not recommend this provider. Clinic and health insurance providers - please review his Telehealth calls and documentation for errors and abuses.

Taking the same medication for 7 years.Wouksnt prescribe medication. Was told I don't have anxiety or depression and that my migraines were the cause of everything. After being told that I had been to the best migraine hospital in North America and that my migraines were not curable and were not the cause but the effect of my anxiety and depression . He proceeded to tell me that he would not prescribe medication and that I should get a second opinion. Well my second opinion is that he shouldn't be a doctor and that he does not care about patients and just wants money through insurance. Absolute fraud.

Scam artist than doctor. Call lasted no more than 6 minutes and charged my insurance 00. Needed an emergency refill for a medication I've been taking for years and was told that he couldn't prescribe it without measuring my blood pressure... in a telehealth appointment.

I've taken the same medication for thirteen years. I have never had to do a single blood test for it in the entire time I've taken it. On my first visit with him, Dr. Obasi told me that he could not prescribe me the medication without a blood test *every three months*. He did not tell me what tests to request, nor even give me any details on the post-visit summary. I later talked to an RN who told me that this was incorrect in every way. I've never had a worse experience with a doctor in my life.

Hands down worst experience with a doctor in any field. I wouldn't even call him a doctor based off of lack of knowledge, and inability to do anything.

Dr. Obassi is one of the best doctors I have ever had. Appointments went smooth, whether I needed 5 mins or an hour to talk he had no problem sitting and address matters with me. Ultimately, he saved my life and provided me with essential care. I was rather upset when he decided to move to another state.

This man is a horrible therapist! He is judgemental and rude! He likes to take you off all meds and leave you high and dry! I'm glad he's not with ministry medical anymore but they also need to weed out all the other bad doctors like him!!! Do not see this doctor!!! He's a terrible person and terrible at his job!!!
