Dr. Ildiko Eydie Bakos , D.D.S., M.S.D. finished her undergraduate studies at Baldwin-Wallace College in 1983. She attended Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry and obtained a DDS degree in 1987. Thereafter, Dr. Bakos was accepted as the first endodontic resident in the newly formed Graduate Endodontic Residency Program at CWRU, where she received an Endodontic Certificate in 1989. She was instrumental in accrediting the program in its first year. In 1993 Dr. Bakos received a Masters of Science in Dentistry degree. During her residency, Dr. Bakos focused on \"How to Minimize Postoperative Pain Following Endodontic Therapy\", which she published as part of her Master's requirement. She researched and presented her favorite topic of interest, \"Traumatic Dental Injuries\", during her second year of residency.
Dr. Bakos joined Endodontic Associates in 1989, becoming the first female endodontist to …practice in Ohio. As of April 2013, Dr. Bakos has continued practicing at the same Rocky River location as a solo practitioner; she has named her team, \"Excellence in Endodontics\". Endodontics, better known as root canal therapy, is performed in her state-of-the-art office. Some of her staff has been working with her for over 25 years. She performs high-quality and compassionate endodontics, as well as root canal surgeries and other specialty treatments, Her highly trained and efficient assisting staff have Certified Dental Assistant licenses. Dr. Bakos also employs a dental assistant with RN license, who is an asset in maintaining patient health and safety. Dr. Bakos and staff are all licensed in infant, child and adult CPR. Her dental assistants are licensed by the DANB in Radiation Health & Safety.
Dr. Bakos is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Greater Cleveland Dental Society, Ohio Association of Endodontists, West Shore Study Club and Delta SigmaDelta Dental Fraternity. She attends local continuing education courses and national endodontic specialty conferences to maintain her endodontic knowledge and skills, as well as to satisfy the Ohio Dental Board requirements.
Dr. Bakos is an active girl scout leader in the Hungarian Scout Association in Exteris and recently attended its World Jamboree, held in Fillmore, New York. As an avid lover of arts and science, Dr. Bakos has been a local member of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Great Lakes Science Center and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
She loves to travel with her husband, Laszlo and two teenage children, Laz and Suzy. Her favorite places include skiing in Park City, Utah and enjoying the beach and the ocean in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Bakos is multi-lingual; in addition to English, she speaks fluent Romanian and Hungarian. She is an avid reader of fiction, as well as nonfiction novels. Ancestry has become a major hobby for her, and she has researched her family tree as far back as the early 1800's. Foreign languages fascinate Dr. Bakos, who has learned Spanish on her own, with the help of Berlitz books and CD's, and while enjoying Hispanic music of all genres.
