Dr. Ilene Mae Fischer, MD

She’s ok, not great and she appears to be on the “back 9” (golf metaphor). She just blew me off and said she couldn’t help me when I was in a lot of pain and discomfort. In fairness to her it seems that many doctors don’t understand the problem that involves pain, itching a dryness. I find it impossible to understand why she and others don’t know how to treat it especially when apparently it pretty common. She just wanted me gone. I’m not going back.

I have seen her for 6 years. She's definitely to the point but she's the real deal and has been right about everything. She's extremely thorough and always fixes the issue. The only issue is you need to book well in advance; she's booked and for good reason.

The worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. Dr. Fischer is cold, uncaring, abrasive, dismissive and even argumentative. She rushes through her appointments - so rushed today in fact that she physically harmed me during the exam.

Always thorough and approachable

I've seen Dr. Fischer since 2009--I'm ending the relationship this year. I was misdiagnosed twice and she was so adamant that she was right--would not retake the tests. One misdiagnosis involved 3 fertility clinics (she was egregiously wrong in terms of the timing of when she administered a blood test) and another involved an abnormal test result that in fact, was normal when I got a second opinion from a reputable hospital network. I asked her on both occasions of being misdiagnosed if there was a possibility for margin of error, and she was adamant she was right.

This practice has a terrible office manager named Chris. She spontaneously decided to cancel an appointment -- an hour and a half before that appointment was to take place -- and I wouldn't have known about it except that I called in to confirm. She escalated this issue and responded to my (calm, but annoyed) request that the appointment be kept with a threat to call the police. Other office staff members have a similar tendency to make spontaneous, strange decisions. They handed over copies of my files, and then, after I requested and offered to pay for a slide, decided to charge me for the files, too. Some of the other charges they billed to my insurance company seem downright fraudulent. Dr. Fischer is adequate -- just that -- if you don't have any medical problems. If you do happen to have a problem, then she is extremely hard to take. She becomes even more curt and rude than she ordinarily is.

In my opinion, she is awful... Rude, dismissive, uncaring, etc. I wish I would have read the other reviews prior to seeing her...

After waiting more than an hour the doctor never apologized. She was doing a procedure that required aan anesthetic and should have waited at least 10 or 15 minutes after administering it before starting the procedure. Now she was in a hurry and waited about one minute. Needless to say the procedure was very painful.
