Dr. Ilene Beth Goldstein, MD

Was scheduled for surgery nearly a month out. The day before surgery, it was canceled with little explanation. Hours later, I finally learned (after much digging) that it was because the doctor was not comfortable with surgery that wasn't with general anesthesia. Odd that that limitation exists with this doctor with all the options offered now. Unfortunately, I heard several other stories before the reason finally came to light. First, it was the pulmonologist's fault, and then the anesthesiologist was blamed for the cancellation. I met both in person, and both put the cancellation squarely back onto this doctor. Even though my medical condition was disclosed in the first appointment, the doctor chose to wait until the day before to cancel - after a family member from out of state flew in to care for me post-surgery. Very expensive mistake choosing this doctor!

I absolutely love Dr. Goldstein. I am moving to Chesapeake, almost in Portsmouth soon. I have already decided I will be driving here to see Dr. Goldstein. She truly cares about my health and she keeps me updated with test needed for my age. Great Dr.!

She was kind, gentle, and caring. I am very nervous about seeing any Dr.'s. Before she even examines you she meets with you in her office and addresses any questions or concerns. She has excellent bedside manner and walks you through everything as she is doing it. I felt really comfortable, and would absolutely recommend her.

Dr. Goldstein was amazing! She explained everything before and during the exam. She was gentle and easy to trust. She's very attentive and knowledgeable.

Dr. Goldstein is a wonderful doctor. Not only does she take the time to get to know her patients personally, she is extremely informative about all of the medical issues you may be having. She does not speak over your head, she explains things to you in a way you can understand. Not only has Dr. Goldstein done surgery for me, she will also be delivering my baby, via c-section. I woudn't trust anyone else in the area except for her because she has been so involved in my case. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

This idiot does not know what she is doing. She needs to go back to school and study this time.I had a baby last February. I went to the hospital and she sent me back saying it was false labor. I called her that evening because I was having frequent contractions, some of which were over two minutes long and painful enough that I couldn't talk. She told me not to come in. We went to the hospital anyway. I was four centimeters dialated. She didn't show up for a couple more hours. There was no doctor there. I guess something good was on TV. She didn't deliver my baby. Supposedly she was around, but I don't know where. At 8 centimeters dialated I was left completely alone for at least an hour. Four more women came in after me. Eventually another doctor as called. She's young, so perhaps she's improved. But last year she was a sadistic idiot.
