Dr. Ilo Elmar Leppik, MD

Doctor Leppik is an "old-school" gentleman and a "cutting-edge" physician. He is well-versed in the latest advances in his field and can explain them to you in easily understood terms. He cares deeply about his patient's treatment and the outcome of their therapy. We have been going to him with our disabled adult son for years and will continue for as long as it is possible for aging parents to do so.

who is adult, non-verbal, born with malformed brain structures. I interpret for the doctor who takes the time to listen and we decide together the best course of treatment for him. Dr. Leppik is up front with me about my son, sharing what he knows or surmises from what I say and he observes. He is honest about my son's condition and prognosis which is a breath of fresh air for me.

I couldn't fit everything he said or did that was inappropriate in this forum but here are the highlights:1.) He told us we would not find a seizure medication that would not have side effects (their clinic clearly states that their goal is seizure and side effect free)2.) If we did want to change medicine we should buy his book on Amazon and read through all the side effect and see what we could tolerate, because he doesn't have time to go through them all with us.3.) I asked if cold medicine would interact with the medication and he went off on a tangent about drinking herbal tea with vodka in it. At this point I had already stated that alcohol is an issue because even in small doses it magnifies the side effects by 10. 4.) He swore that the cold meds would not interact with Keppra...nothing on the market has alcohol in it? I'm pretty sure many forms of cough medicine have forms of alcohol in it and other things that would interact and possibly increase the side effects. 5.) We… worked for weeks to get CD's of films and records to them ahead of time and he wouldn't even look at the films.I could go on. In closing, you can't see a doctor there unless you do an EEG with them so it was a very expensive mistake to go to his office.
