Dr. Imran Aziz Shaikh, MD

The list of problems with this doctor is extensive. 1) he has no time management capability. The doctor has only called me on the same day as my appointment once. He usually calls the following day, but sometimes he will get around to calling me 2 days after my appointment date. 2) After he does get around to finally calling me, he doesn't bother to send my Rx to the pharmacy until a day or 2 later after several reminders. 3) despite being a licensed psychiatrist, he seems to lack basic math and science comprehension. He should be able to tell that there are 2 days between the 28th and 30th in which withdrawals to the medication he prescribed will start to occur, but insisted that i shouldn't be out of medication. He then proceeded to not call in my prescription at all. The office is also not very helpful as far as communicating with him. As of now i was supposed to have my meds on Monday, it is now Friday and i am being told that he will call me tomorrow? There is no way i should have… to go to the ER during the pandemic just to get a refill for zoloft that can easily be called in to my pharmacy!

Dr. Shaikh was treating me for obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety. As of Dec. 2017 he stopped accepting GHI. I visited his office six times between Dec.18 and Jan.9th, 2018.I wanted him to renew my prescriptions and I left in person messages with the receptionist. I was told that I would hear from Dr. Shaikh. He has not responded and I am without my medication for over a week. I am now making an appointment with another doctor in my area.

Seeing "DR. SHAIKH," the psychiatrist was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! Absolutely HORRIBLE experience with the psychiatrist there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this quack of a doctor- DR SHAIKH. He is the ONLY PSYCHIATRIST at this practice so there are no other options in regards to seeing a doctor who you mesh with and feel comfortable with. Dr. Shaikh was absolutely rude and insulting. As a new patient with a substantial history, I was relieved to find a cheaper doctor since my prior one. In the past I was overcharged by my previous doctor in the city. I could not longer afford to continue paying his fees out of pocket and I did not have health insurance at the time. Not to mention I no longer had the income I used to have to be able to afford expensive doctors anymore. First and foremost, he didn't read or even skim through my medical records or review them when I came in for my first visit. HOW UNPREPARED. Secondly, Dr. Shaikh had the nerve to tell me I had to come in every 2 weeks… and pay $65/visit twice a month- even though I am only required to come in monthly -as I have always done with every psychiatrist I had ever seen. He basically wanted and was forcing me to pay the $65 fee twice every month as opposed to just once. He makes double profit here. When I asked him why I had to come in biweekly, he said "to refill your prescriptions". Wow what a jerk. Verbatim he told me that I could afford it since I was previously paying an expensive doctor in the city, and $65 was not a lot for me. Im sorry, but WHO IS HE TO TELL ME WHETHER $65 is a lot to me or not?? I was so insulted. I mentioned I was really strapped and also in the process of moving and had 30 days to find a new place to live. I begged him to work with me, and to keep in mind I was also seeing a therapist at this location weekly. DID NOT MATTER. Little did he know I did not have insurance and had to pay out of pocket- AND I no longer made the income I was making at that time when I was paying for a more expensive doctor. He has some nerve. ESPECIALLY TO BE JUDGING ME. That is a trait nobody could ever would want in a psychiatrist. Lastly, he tried to change my prescription regimen entirely- first to a slow release pill rather than a quick release pill (which I had taken now for 7 years at this point), and by trying to get me off all of my meds. WTF?? I said I don't like the way the slow release pills make me felt- and he tried to bullsh*t me by saying it was "illegal for adults to take this pill in the quick release form". BULLSH*T. I am not an idiot and corrected him. Overall he was unprepared, rude, judgmental, had a poor knowledge of psychiatry in general, and is clearly biased because he must have had a bad experience with a patient or something, and allows his emotions to rub off on his etiquette and judgement calls new patients. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME going to his 6 x 6 ft office filled with suicidal facts and information, as well as horror stories taped all over his walls. WORST PART WAS HE DIDNT EVEN TAKE MY INSURANCE!!! MEDICAID! He should have his license revoked or go back to school. Im sure if you look into his past, he has some type of record of bad decision making. I gave this facility ONE STAR only because Michelle, the therapist I started seeing, was wonderful, and I will continue to see her. Other than her being the only perk, their ONLY psychiatrist, Dr. Shaikh is a horrible psychiatrist. Good Luck!!!
