Dr. Ingrid Elisabeth Schmidt, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Ingrid Schmidt to any individual looking for an experienced, well-rounded psychiatrist who goes far beyond just medication management. I have been under her care for over a year now. I have so much trust in her that I would confidently refer her to any of my friends. Dr. Schmidt has a gentle, clear way of communicating. She exercises a wide range of treatment methods. Dr. Schmidt provides you choices of treatment and respects your opinions, feelings, concerns, and decisions. She is always open to any questions you may have. Deciding on a treatment plan feels more like a mutual agreement and understanding. You do not have to worry about her only pushing for medications like some other psychiatrists. Medications are a treatment option that she gives you only if that is in your best interest, and if you’re comfortable and okay with it. Other treatment methods she offers are psychotherapy, supplements, food and wellness, energy exercises, hypnosis, and… more. It is beneficial for me to be treated by a doctor who incorporates therapy in conjunction with monitoring your health, which she does very well throughout your care. Overall, Dr. Schmidt is the best doctor I’ve ever had.

I've been seeing Dr. Schmidt for around 10 years, and she has helped me immensely. I believe she definitely wants me to reach my full potential, and does her best to help me get there. I really can't think of any negatives, she answers all questions completely (including providing any research she has on anything, which is typically a lot and awesome), she's a great listener, she's great at getting me to find the correct solutions to problems, she's been great at spotting problem signs before they get out of hand, she's just been great all around. I recommend her completely without any reservations at all.

She has that rare ability to listen while reserving judgment, thereby allowing me to come to my own conclusions in my own time. The treatment allowed me to go on and lead a fairly normal life for which I am forever grateful. She is tough, but good.

I especially appreciate that she allowed me to come to my own conclusions in my own time, and did not force any realizations on me that I wasn't ready for. Medications were available but never forced.

My first few visits went quite well. She seemed to understand my hesitance to take medication and was teaching me relaxation/concentration techniques that aided with the problems I was feeling at that time. It seemed the more comfortable I got, the more she pushed drugs on me. My last visit she was encouraging me to take mood stabilizing drugs and left me with tons of paperwork on bipolar disorder. Instead of discussing my "mood Swings" and "anxiety" she spent the entire hour gathering all these papers for me to read up on. I felt she had her mind made up when I walked in that day what my diagnosis would be and she practically refused to listen to anything I said. I left angry, anxious, and so very disappointed that someone in her position could jump to conclusions without actually listening to the patient. She even claimed that if she had diagnosed me earlier this year I wouldn't of had to deal with medical issues I had faced earlier that year. This is absolutely ludicrous since I… had a very large precancerous polyp removed from my colon at the young age of 28. diagnosing me as bipolar obviously would not have changed my medical circumstances. Even as I corrected her about my medical condition, she only brushed it away like it had nothing to do with her diagnosis.
