Dr. Iris Sofia Wingrove, MD

Dr. Wingrove will initially make you feel like you’ve finally found a doctor who will listen and who really wants to help you, but after the first visit you will never hear from her again. She was even going to coordinate with my other doctors (which is rare), but she has not returned their calls. She was going to order new tests/labs, but she has ignored my messages and calls for two months now to find how to do the testing she wanted me to do. I’ve been completely ghosted. I don’t understand. Save your money. She doesn’t take insurance so you’ll spend a fortune just to be ignored.

Dr. Wingrove listens! She takes the time to get to know her patients and their medical history. She thinks outside the box at the whole picture abd discusses options many other doctors don't bother to mention. I highly recommend her for anyone who has known neurological issues or anyone who suspects they may have.

Dr Wingrove has been my Neurologist for 3 years. Initially she was recommended to me from a trusted friend when I began to have some odd neurological symptoms. She does not take insurance so I was hesitant. I did a lot of research on doctors and did decide to give her a try. Neurology is complex and my condition is complex. Most doctors including specialists give you about 15 minutes or less of their time, make quick decisions on testing and recommendations forcing your symptoms into a box. They have you return regularly for quick visits, more tests, and your questions are never fully answered. Dr Wingrove spent nearly an hour and a half of direct time with me at my first visit gathering a thorough history and exam. She listened intently and took impeccable notes. She wanted to hear my experience. It would have taken a dozen appointments with other specialists going the traditional route to get the information that Dr Wingrove gathers in a single appointment. Follow up appointments… are 45 minutes of direct time with her. Trust me that time is important. From experience I wholeheartedly believe that my testing and care was exponentially sped up by choosing her to be my doctor. Which is extremely important when we are talking about your brain. This isn't a bone to mend..... While she herself does not take insurance she does work with your insurance for all testing and treaments. She is incredibly compassionate, considerate of my time and finances, fiercly intelligent, and truly cares for you as an individual. I have never once felt like just a chart or that I have to remind her of my case. She always remembers my details. She is one of a kind, don't let the insurance aspect lead you somewhere else. She is worth it and your health is worth it.

Dr. Wingrove is a phenomenal Neurologist - she provides a rare combination of knowledge, compassion, and positive bedside manner for her patients, all whilst working exceptionally hard to ensure the best possible care. Dr. Wingrove routinely goes above and beyond in ensuring her patients receive the best treatment and solutions for their problems, all whilst spending the time to listen closely to what you as a patient need. My wife developed a form of autoimmune encephalitis called Limbic encephalitis. She was the only neurologist we found in Austin with training and experience to treat the disease. Until we met with her, no one was able to give us a plan of treaty. She has been a God-send.

If you’re in need of a neurologist make sure you get in with this one. She’s fantastic, doesn’t require a referral, spends an hour and a half just in consult with you, in thorough and she’s trained at the best facilities and institutions in the nation. The ease of getting an appointment took so much stress off of me, especially around the holidays. She was patient, and listened Intently. I’ll never see another neurologist. She’s fantastic.
