Dr Kohlberg has been my doctor for over ten years now, he has always been compassionate and friendly in every circumstance and is open minded to a multifaceted approach to mental health including therapy. I’m so grateful he treats me like a human when other doctors rush to shove meds down my throat. He’s very old school and helpful in his methodology as well.

We were referred to Dr. Pastor by a Psychiatrist and Pediatrician regarding some serious issues with our 17yr old and ended up with Dr. Irving Kohlberg. My son was also diagnosed at Seattle Childrens beforehand. Dr. Kohlberg met with my wife and I first, and we even had to fill out a form before we met that indicated our son had a full spectrum of issues. Again, we knew this beforehand. It’s the same form we filled out at Seattle Childrens. The Dr. was shocked that almost every box was checked. Yes, our son has many issues. Our son even completed the same form at Seattle Childrens and it came out the same. This ”doctor” then meets with our son and says “he acts normal and seems normal when meeting with our son.” How are you going to feel one of these days when the next patient you see ends up either harming himself, or someone else after you rubber stamp the “you are normal” moniker after one visit. That’s it? After two hours with my wife and I, and one hour with our 17yr old and all… he does is refer us elsewhere! My son was even telling the Doctor that he is struggling to focus and some of his other issues, all of which seemed ignored by the Doctor. My wife and son relayed the conversation to me and we are all failing to see the value of approximately $1,150 and the time we all committed to this. Our son even said “that was the biggest waste of time” and that “the Doctor didn’t even acknowledge my issues.” We told this doctor that his teachers are calling out issues, his girlfriends parents just called the police on him last week and that he’s had two violent episodes in the last month and a half. Our son is reporting that he is regularly “seeing demons” and “hearing demons, which are telling him to do things”, all of which we reported to the Doctor. How in the world can this Doctor say that this is normal? We are disgusted. We NEED HELP! We came to you guys and this is it? We’re extremely disappointed. Not only this, but the Doctor said to my son “your parents filled out almost every box and it was almost impossible to get a diagnosis.” He actually told our son this! I’m seriously questioning the methodology. DO YOUR JOB! As I mentioned during our meeting, I spent years working with dual diagnosed youth, teens and adults, and I’ve never see a doctor respond like this. We are utterly in shock. If it’s beyond your level of expertise, at least be honest with us and tell us.
