Saw another review of someone saying they had a seizure. I had a similar reaction to medication he prescribed me. Luckily the weekend psychiatrist at SH caught it so I got injected with meds in each arm to stop the reaction. He talked to my family and therapists from home more than I ever spoke to him. Over Medicates and misdiagnoses. Also- Just because you’re a psychiatrist, doesn’t mean you’re entitled to act like you have authority or power over your patients.

Dr. Gelman has been treating my teenage son at Silver Hill Hospital, and my husband and I have been continually impressed with the amount of time he takes to speak with both our son and ourselves, and the thought he continues to put in to find the correct diagnoses for our child. He seems authentically concerned for our child, is flexible in his approach to our son's issues, and we trust him wholeheartedly. As a parent, I recommend Dr. Gelman to others who are seeking psychiatric care for their child.

In talking with other adult patients, it sounds like he labels everyone bipolar and jumps to conclusions about individuals quickly--understandable given his extensive experience, but it certainly can't be a best practice in psychiatry. I felt like he was placing most of what I said into a rigid framework he had already decided upon.

Lets see.. he rolled his eyes at me, caused me a 7 plus minute seizure (that the ER doctor and his collegues confirmed was the case) and he threatened my family...he doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as other, more qualified doctors. I actually met someone who knows him on a social basis and he claims that he went into work w/ individuals who have mental illness and/or addiction is because he will "always be given the benefit of the doubt." Cute!

Very caring, knowledgable md. Treated my transgender child and we both felt extremely comfortable and well taken care if with him.

Worst doctor ever. Rolls his eyes at patients. I really hope he develops a chronic condition in which he experiances the same bedside manner and professionaism
