Dr. Isaac Benjamin Annan, MD

He spent an hour telling me how fat I was. yes I was 100 pounds over weight . The neurologist I was using at MU health care transferred to Miami after my latest MRI test Dr Annan said he does not believe in test, that he has his own way of doing medicine, that MRIs are useless. It was degrading and my issues were not found until much later further impacting my suffering . the man should not be permitted practice medicine with his mentality.

It was a great appointment. He was funny and put me at ease. I think he’s a great and thorough doctor and I’m glad he came to Phoebe. I saw some of these ratings and I think they misunderstand his sense of humor. I love the guy.

I had to establish care with him for my narcolepsy after my previous neurologist retired. I had to keep asking him to repeat himself due to his thick accent. He was extremely condescending and rude. Told me that my very clear cut MSLT results and subsequent narcolepsy diagnosis were wrong, and I did not have narcolepsy. Apparently it is normal to fall asleep while driving, talking to people, speaking on the phone, while walking...etc. He also kept telling me that "of course I am tired" because I was doing night shift work. I told him several times throughout the visit that I did not work night shifts. He continually interrupted me when I tried to describe my symptoms and struggles to tell me that I need to get over myself, being tired is part of growing up and I shouldn't be so eager to slap a diagnosis on what is simple "poor sleep hygiene". He diagnosed me with seizures with zero testing or research into my medical history, and tried to prescribe me a medication which has an… ingredient I am allergic to. He ended the visit by telling me since my life is so hard, my husband needs to get his big boy pants on and get a "real" job so I can stay home and raise my children. I left the office shaking and holding back tears. This man should NOT be working working people who literally place their lives in his hands!!!

The doctor was two hours and fifteen minutes late for our appointment. He did not apologize. He was condescending to the point of rudeness, refusing to read my typed listing of symptoms (I have difficulty communicating verbally; all of my other physicians rely on my notes and keep them in my file; he refused to put them in my records). He repeated questions I'd already answered several times. He dismissed my concerns, which were based on my own research as well as upon feedback from my other physicians after recent exams. The nurse was frustrated with him when she could not find him - he was not answering his pager, and had not communicated when he would be available. He might be a good neurologist, but his unwillingness to work collaboratively with educated patients in order to form a treatment plan is reminiscent of doctors of the 1950s. He was abrupt and impatient with me during the physical exam, as well as when I'd ask him to repeat himself because I could not understand his words… due to his accent. I left the office in tears. He showed no concern at my obvious distress. He also attempted to prescribe a medication which is contraindicated for another medication I must take; he had the listing of my medications right in front of him on the computer, and we'd discussed them. I have never experienced such treatment by a physician. It was invalidating in the extreme. I've transferred to another provider.

He was 40 minutes late for my appt. Ignored me for 15 minutes, with his back to me, I assume looking at my file. He called fibromyalgia VOODOO. Told me any one over 50 cannot twist their knee on ice. Said degenerative disc and joint disease are categories for inadequate doctors to put their patients in because they cant make a correct diagnosis. He is rude and unethical.
