Dr. Isabella Gyening, MD, FAAD

After reading all reviews about her, I feel my opinion after visiting her for my skin problem has been validated. I was suffering from severe blisters on both of my hands when I made a rushed appointment with her. She did not ask me any questions and simply after looking at my hands told me that there is a good news and bad news.Bad news is that I was suffering from eczema which will be life long and good news is that these outbursts of eczema can be contained. I was very surprised because at age 39 I never had any episode of eczema before and there was no family history as well. She did not inquire about anything that could have caused it. All she wanted me was to see on computer screen, images of this disease. When I told her I had already googled these images, she told me that I should have mentioned this earlier as it would have saved time. She prescribed me prednisone and told me that’s all it was there to be done. When I came out of her clinic, I was not convinced at all. I went… to another dermatologist who told me that it was a case of contact dermatitis. Finally, after 2 months of suffering from my condition, it was finally diagnosed by a third dermatologist that my case was actually a reaction of fungal infection on my foot and the moment I started using anti-fungal creams, blisters on my hand disappeared. She charged my insurance 240 dollars for that barely 5 minutes visit. I suffered immensely due to her wrong diagnosis and would not recommend her to anyone else. She really needs to refresh her dermatology knowledge before practicing further.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS REVIEW ZERO STARS I WOULD. TODAY WAS MY FIRST VISIT WITH DR. GYENING. SPOKE TO HER ABOUT THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING ONLY TO HAVE HER BE RUDE AND NOT REALLY LISTEN TO ME. SHE MADE A DETERMINATION ON MY DIAGNOSIS AND THAT IS WHAT SHE STUCK WITH. SHE WAS VERY COLD AND THE DIAGNOSIS SHE GAVE ME WAS WITHOUT ANY TEST/BIOPSY BEING TAKEN, JUST BY LOOKING AT MY SKIN AREA SHE CONCLUDED THAT I HAD A CONDITION THAT COULD NEVER BE CURED OR CORRECTED. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE. NOW I'M STUCK ON HAVING TO GET A SECOND OPINION WHICH MEANS MORE MONEY.

Had an appointment with her and she didn't care about my concerns at all. Attempted to explain multiple times and she cut me off, interrupted with what she wanted to do for me. When I tried to explain my concerns about her plan, she more or less explained that since this was the first time she was treating me, she couldn't verify what I was saying. As if I'm not an adult who can recall and report my own experiences. Her treatment regimen did not work, which I tried to explain would happen because I've tried it before, but I never returned because what's the point? She's right and you're wrong. Not all that polite either. Maybe she had a bad day but that was the worst experience with a doctor I've ever had.

I went to see Dr. Gyening for a few different reasons, one was a small bump on my foot. I thought it was a wart, but turns out it was just a corn. Dr. Gyening pulled a plastic stick from a package and scrapped across my corn a couple of times and then told me to go buy a pummel stone. The next month I received a bill for $198.00 for "Trimming Skin Lesion". Surly this was a mistake I thought. I emailed the doctor and explained what i was being charged, but she refused to change the way she coded the service. So I was forced to pay $198.00 for Dr. Gyening to literally touch my foot with a plastic stick. I would not recommend,

Took my son in to get a lump near his eye looked at and not by choice, our pediatrician sent us here. All she did was attack us asking why we were there when she saw nothing wrong. After she finally pulled up his notes and saw we didn't come on our own she found another way to be rude. She looked at my son's picture on the notes and looked at him and said, 'Does this look like the same thing?' In the picture it was much worse. At that point I was livid and did not say a word. She then decided finally to put a finger to his eye and feel the lump. She looked at us and said this is not a dermatology issue and then put in a referral to a dermatologist at TCH. Go figure! We already had that referral but her appointment was sooner than the other at TCH. Worst doctor ever. She acted like we wasted her time, she is so arrogant and rude. It was a waste of time and money. Find another doctor!

My experience with this Doctor is a Total Disappointment. She did not answer any of my questions and concerns! Did not give me a single answer or explanation of any of my skin problems which I described and want to be examined including skin tags, bumps under the hair on the scalp, something looking as melanoma, moles, redness around the nose etc. The only thing I have learned from her is any procedure will be at additional cost or need to be referred to different kind of doctor. She did not give me information about the cost of medicine she prescribed for dark spot treatment which happened to be over $250, and later on I refused to take from the pharmacy. I will never use this doctor to consult with. She is incapable to help anybody. The visit was over $215 with Insurance Discount! Waiting time for the Doctor was 25 min!? total waste of time and money!

I am stunned to see such good reviews on this doctor. I had the most opposite experience. Doctor was rude and hardly spent any time explaining what was wrong. I had to ask a million questions to understand what she couldn't or didn't want to explain. Staff promised to call back with pricing on a procedure and never called. Will not be going back. Please don't forget just because you have insurance most specialties are not covered until deductible is met so that means I did pay a arm and a leg for a 10 minute visit.

I love this doctor! After going to see my PCP and two other dermatologists in my area, and not receiving an accurate diagnosis, she nailed my diagnosis and promptly began treatment that worked and cleared my symptoms in 3 weeks. I spent well over $500 on treatments that did not work and doctors' visits before seeing her.

Dr. Gyening is wonderful!! She speaks to me in a caring manner, and is very thorough. I will definitely return!! Also, she is extremely informative about Dermatology of all skin types.
