best doctor! delivered my first child with him and plan to deliver my next with him. he is very calming and thorough. i never feel rushed. would highly recommend to anyone!

I have seen Dr. Israel for a number of years. He has followed up, diagnosed and done successful surgery for several conditions. He has always been thorough, well- trained and up to date on the issues, and honest, He has been more than willing to spend the time needed to answer all my questions. And I was impressed that when I got testing done there, the office was persistent in following up until they reached me and had me schedule the needed follow-up appointment. I like his low key temperament and wry sense of humor. I don't mind waiting 15 minutes to see a doctor who,when a patient needs it, is willing to give his time. These things don't always go like clockwork. I have been seeing him lately in the Rockville office, and I like the smaller, more accessible staff, as well as the homier, less corporate setting.

I have been patient of Dr. Alter's for 26 years. He is the kindest person and has a very caring and gentle manner. His advice has always been helpful and his follow up on any manner that needs it has been fast and thorough. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Alter has been my OB for several years, in spite of friend's and colleagues' bad experience with him (wide range of complaints, from careless and negligent exams, to wrong diagnosis which led to miscarriage). Personally, I once experienced his sudden and unexplained tantrum (!) during an annual exam, which he later apologized for. Still I didn't leave him, since he had (and might still have, from some reason) a good "Washingtonian review" score. However, the last straw was when I recently scheduled my annual exam, and was sent away from his office without him willing to see me because I was 20 minutes late to the appointment, 10 of which I was searching for a parking space near his Bethesda office. I have actually begged, pleading the receptionist to speak with the head nurse and with him, explaining I really needed to see him due to medical irregularities other than my annual, but to no avail. He was not willing to see me. This is unacceptable. Time to take my business elsewhere!
