Dr. Ixchel Alvarez

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a medical professional, and other people considering getting treatment from her should know. I was looking for a new primary care physician after my last provider left. Dr. Alvarez opened my first appointment by announcing that she’d be changing a medication I’ve taken for years to a different type and lowering my dose. I was reluctant to agree to this considering she had decided to majorly change my treatment before she even met me. She didn’t explain to me the potential side effects of the medication change, ask me any questions about my current treatment plan or how it was working for me, and insisted I would be more comfortable with what she had decided on. I don’t know how she came to that decision, because she never asked me if I was uncomfortable to begin with and became defensive when I tried to ask her questions about it. I told her I wasn’t comfortable continuing with her as my provider… and would be seeking treatment elsewhere. She tried to continue the session, insisted she could prescribe the medication she’d decided on, and tried to take my vitals. I had to tell her twice that I would be seeking a different provider and did not want her to be involved in my treatment before she stopped trying to continue the appointment. After the appointment ended, she sent me an appointment summary that did not accurately reflect the events of the appointment and raised concerns about my medical history that she hadn’t bothered to raise with me. It was the most incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

This is the worst doctor i've ever seen in my life. She accused me of doctor shopping when I use the pharmacy, I work at. And she's probably the dumbest human being I have ever talked to.
